About us
You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.—Marcus Aurelius
Stoic Sisters is a meetup group for women who want to explore Stoic philosophies and learn how to apply them in their daily lives. We aim to meet for an hour every 6 weeks in Sydney, Australia to discuss Stoic ideas.
At each meeting, you can expect to receive a copy of the day’s reading from Ryan Holiday’s The Daily Stoic (photocopies available). Other texts suggested by our members will always be welcome. You don’t need to be an expert on Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Seneca to join this group, just Stoic-curious and open-minded!
Stoicism sometimes gets a bad rap for espousing a “stiff upper lip” attitude. To show that emotions are not cancelled by Stoic culture, we will sometimes pair meetings with an artistic event that people are invited to attend (at member’s own cost and not by any means mandatory) — a movie or art exhibition, for instance.
I look forward to learning about this practical philosophy with you as we reignite Sydney Stoic Sisters in post-pandemic world we live in.
