What we’re about

السلام عليكم
! تشرفنا

The main purpose of this group is to solely study the Quran. Each week we will look at a few verses and discuss what we understand. The group was intended to encourage more Quran exposure, outside of just Arabic recitation for prayer.

We use Abdel Haleem’s translation with Lanes Lexicon and Quran Corpus. It is advised that you have a copy of the Quran in your preferred language as this group was originally based in English speaking countries so it cannot accommodate any minority.

Alhamdullilah Sister Jessica has been doing this for well for well over 2 years by Gods grace, and I semi-hijacked her group. May Allah reward her immensely. We have continued this group for 4 years now and hope to continue it.

Please do not feel compelled to turn your camera on, as most of us don’t have ours on.

We have no animosity towards any specific belief, or theology, and would like to honor this amongst ourselves. You are most welcome even if you are not Muslim. Join us even if feel intrigued or wish to want to ask questions about the Quran.

As a gentle cautionary note, we do not accept spam, swearing, doxing or other forms of harassment. Any misconduct will be addressed immediately. Please do not message intending to stir up controversy. No attendee is obliged to verify their faith as Muslims to another attendee. Interrogations will not be tolerated. Please also remain respectful of other attendees, without making the assumption that anyone is not proficient in Quranic study, or Arabic as we have a range of members that are fluent in Arabic, well studied in the Quran as well as those who have just embraced Islam. Do not attend sessions merely to interrogate attendees.

If you are not comfortable with anything mentioned above and below in this list here, this may not be the right group for you. But please do not message intending to compel group leaders or individuals to leave the group.
1. You are uncomfortable interacting with different schools of thought, people at different stages of their faith or people interested in Islam
2. You prefer Arabic Quran study with other Arabic speakers
3. You struggle with others having a variety of opinions.
4. You want to just listen to a halaqa
5. You feel uncomfortable studying the Quran independent of a recognised islamic scholar or school.
6. You only want to discuss tafsirs and are not open to discussing the verses outside of the standard framework
7. You are uncomfortable using translations
8. You prefer to connect only with Muslims of the same theological school of thought.

Please attend only if you have none of the above concerns mentioned. This is to reduce friction and allow others to benefit from the sessions. We have members from all countries so Insha’Allah you will find a wonderful small (yet international) community here and be able to read with us.

Peace be with you!
