Edgebarrow Nature Reserve and Wildmoor Heath

Join us for a walk in nature. This will be an approximate 7.5 mile round trip from Crowthorne railway station.
We will walk round the outskirts of Wellington College into Edgbarrow Nature Reserve which is a mixture of heathland, grassland and high forest, including magnificent oak and beech trees. From here we will head to Wildmoor Heath, a lowland heath area which is both a Special Protection Area and Site of Special Scientific Interest. We will then circle round Broadmoor Farm Meadows before heading back through Wildmoor Heath and down The Killometre to arrive back at the station. The pace will be moderate and there are some inclines.
This walk will start at 11am from Crowthorne Railway Station (carpark next to Platform 2). The cost is £2.50 per day (cashless parking APCOA connect -be aware phone signal may be poor). The train from Reading should arrive at 12.38, but please check the timetable and any service updates before travelling.
The Hive serves craft beer, coffee and cakes and is situated near the station on Dukes Ride, if anybody would like post walk refreshments.

Do not attend this walk if you are not fit enough or if you have a medical condition that may impact upon your capability of completing the walk.
The walk contains mainly flat paths, however there are some inclines with a total of 250ft ascent and descent.
We need to cross a busy road, so bringbyour full attention.
We will walk on sandy terrain, this can be slippery so please wear sturdy boots or shoes.
Please dress appropriately for all weather and terrain conditions.
Wear good sturdy shoes, preferably with ankle support, and carry a bottle of water and necessary medication.
This walk encompasses countryside and environments where all the usual risks of injury during such walks apply, such as but not limited to: interactions with road traffic, joggers, cyclists, e-scooters, other members of the public, animals, plants (allergic reactions), uneven surfaces, including protruding tree roots and potholes and there may be low overhanging branches.
Some tracks may be muddy and slippery, and conditions may be wet if it has been or is raining.
The walk leader is not and does not purport to be a professional guide, or a medical professional, but is instead a like minded individual who also enjoys walking.
