IN REVERSE! Quail Hill neighborhood "Slim Shady"- 4 miles, adv. beg.

Here's a relatively easy walking/hiking route! This is a short one, just under 4 miles. It's in an Irvine community, Quail Hill. It's near Shady Canyon trail - hence the nickname! Although rated as "advanced beginner" there is an early net gain of elevation about 400 feet. So, it's not very flat and also a good workout.

We start at the Quail Hill Community Center located at 39 Shady Canyon. We will meet on the steps near the main entrance. From there we make our way over behind the center and pick up the Quail Hill trail. We will hit a fork in the trail almost a 1/2 mile up and we stay to the LEFT trail that hugs the perimeter of the Quail Hill community. It becomes paved but starts to get a little steep as we ascend nearly 400 ft to the top of the community before looping back down through streets and Cascades and Knollcrest community to making our way back to the community center.

No special hiking shoes are required. Good sturdy tennies or walking shoes is fine. Bring water and a snack.

Dogs are welcomed on a leash.

The main restroom will be at the community center and might be open for use.

DIRECTIONS: From 405 freeway, exit Shady Canyon/Sand Canyon and proceed west towards the Quail Hill community. Turn left into the main parking lot of the Quail Hill Community Center. Meet at the main steps out front, near the flag pole.
