Camping and Glamping, Vail Lake-Temecula

I have sites 170 and 171 under the shade of a big oak tree and near the cabins. For the group I have hand selected sites 173-180, 186 and 163-167. Reserve now to get a good spot.

Last time we did this we had approximately 30 ladies attending this event between the Sunshine Gals and Sisters on the Fly, a ladies international camping group that some of us belong to.

The following may be the itenerary for this event:

Campground Check in is as early as 1 p.m.

Thursday: 5:00ish. Meet and Greet at site TBD, you'll get your name tags, bring a folding chair and bring an appetizer to share. ( BYOB) It's a good time to finalize plans for carpooling at Friday's optional Winery tour and discuss other possible things to do. We need volunteers for carpooling.

Friday: 8:00-9:30 a.m. Waffles at site TBD. Laura V. has brought her waffle maker and has volunteered to make waffles for us. Wearing your PJs is optional...its fun. Bring your coffee, plate and utensils, and I will have a keurig at my site.

12:30 we will gather for carpooling to Oak Mountain Winery where we have reservations at 1:30 for 12 for lunch. (OakMountainWinery.com) This is an awesome winery and restaurant inside tunnels and caves. Unique experience.

6:00 We will gather at site TBD and TBD for cooking tinfoil dinners. bring firewood if you can. Here are some steps to make foil packets for camping:

1. Cut the ingredients into small, similarly-sized pieces that will cook in the same amount of time.
2. Each foil packet will require two sheets of foil.
3. Place food in the center of each foil sheet.
4. Top with butter and seasonings.
5. Fold foil packets by bringing the two longest edges together and rolling them to form a seal. Then, fold in the shorter sides of the packet1

10:30: Craft Hour. Bring a Rock or ? to paint. Laura V. has the paints!

12:00: Optional...Gather for carpooling to old town Temecula and lunch. Mad Madelines has good burgers. Lots of quaint shops to explore.

6:00: Potluck and Game Night. Bring $12 one dollar bills for LRC. List below what you will bring for the potluck and watch for too many duplicates. Once again, bring your plate, utensils and beverage. Bring firewood for gathering around the firepit.

Sunday: 9:00 a.m. optional breakfast at the Cafe, then we will be on our way home. Check out is at noon.

The campground has live music on the weekends, a cafe and a bar with an area to gather and enjoy the live music in the evenings. They also have miniature golf, crafts and etc. Lots of things to do.

This is a nice Campground with lots of amenities. It has RV spots with full hook ups, tent areas and cabins for glamping. It has 3 pools, etc. It's about 15 minutes from Old Town Temecula, casinos and wine country.

Full hookup campsites in the Oaks is $69 per night midweek and $89 on the weekends . It allows for an an RV and a tent per site. I have reserved a block of sites in the Oaks for our Sunshine Gals. We have a hold on those sites for a limited time only so you need to book right away. Call the Front Desk at KOA at 951-303-0173.
