We'll open with 2 short lightning talks. One from Sam Soffes (https://twitter.com/soffes) on a library he open sourced and one from Agnes Vasarhelyi (https://twitter.com/vasarhelyia), iOS/Mac developer at Prezi on the evolution of her beer brewing app.
We'll then roll to:
Talk #1: While Your App is Sleeping
With Background Transfer Services, apps gained the capability to run networking requests in the background, even if the app has been terminated. This talk will go through how to change your networking requests to background compatible and navigate the speed bumps.
About your speaker, Gwendolyn Weston
Gwendolyn Weston is a developer at PlanGrid where she works on version control for construction blueprints. Outside of that, she likes to rock climb and obsess over the colour purple.
Talk #2: GameplayKit: Beyond Games
GameplayKit is full of famous algorithms, design patterns and utilities, broadly used in the game development realm. Right after Apple announced it, whispers started to spread around Moscone and adjacent neighbourhoods: what if we could use this great toolbox for regular apps development? Join Sash in exploring repurposing of GameplayKit!
About your speaker, Sash Zats
Sash leads the iOS team at Wondermall. He started developing for iOS back when it was just Objective-C! Being a big fan of creative solutions, he believes in repurposing technologies as long as they work great and solve problems in the best way possible.
