Talk – Dealing With Asynchrony in a Synchronous Swift World
Asynchronous operations are all around us: waiting for user input, network traffic going back and forth, etc. At the same time, we live in a world with the arrow of time pointing firmly in one direction. How do we deal with Swift code that executes in a (mostly) straight line when there are so many side tangents and threads to wait around for? Callbacks? Futures? Spinlocks? In this talk, we'll look at these and other options for dealing with asynchrony in a synchronous Swift world.
About Greg: (https://twitter.com/gregheo?lang=en)
Greg is an iOS and Swift nerd, full-time Canadian, and part-time aspiring limerick writer. He spends his days working at Instagram hand-cropping those square photos, and his nights wading through the Swift repositories and writing about his findings at swiftunboxed.com (http://swiftunboxed.com/). You can find him on Twitter as @gregheo.
