LOPSA Cbus: Threat modeling container based application architecture

Details

Michael Schiebel will be sharing lessons learned building and securing a modern web scale containerized application by applying threat modeling to one of the larger container orchestration frameworks.

Modern container based application architectures enable rapid development of web scale applications. Unfortunately, this also brings unique security challenges and a paradigm shift in securing these applications.
We will walk step by step threat modeling a hypothetical Docker application orchestrated using Mesos/DCOS with a Jenkins continuous delivery development pipeline. By the end of the talk, we will have established a list of security requirements unique to this modern architecture.

Michael Schiebel is the founder of Ikoloki, a security analytic platform as a service company. He has over 15 years experience helping companies improve and transform their security programs. An active member of the Columbus security community; he provides mentoring and training opportunities to his security peers as well as more formal conference presentations.

Agenda:

6:00PM - Introductions, food, drink, and networking
