## Having already selected our script and scouted locations, we are now moving into the critical pre-production phase: translating the vision into a technical plan and building the team to execute it. This month, we dive deep into:

## Picture Lock & Edit and Final Spotting Session.

### Core Topics

• Picture Lock: This is the phase where the visual edit of the film is finalized. No further cuts or timing changes are made to the footage, allowing the technical teams (sound, color, VFX) to begin their work on a stable timeline.
• The Edit: Insight into the technical and creative choices made during the assembly of the film to ensure the narrative flow aligns with the director's vision.
• Final Spotting Session: A collaborative review where the director and editor meet with the composer and sound designer. They "spot" (identify) exactly where music should start/stop and where specific sound effects are needed.

Music has the power to elevate a scene, build underlying tension, and guide the audience's emotions in ways dialogue and visuals cannot. In this session, we will demystify the collaborative process between directors and composers to bring Decline’s sonic identity to life.
