This is a scenic varied walk through woodland moorland along rocky edges and streams..

Our walk starts at the Fox House Inn and joins a track across moorland which takes us to Burbage Rocks.

Burbage Rocks is a gritstone escarpment 2 miles long overlooking the village of Hathersage in the Peak District..
The highest point along the escarpment is 429 metres above sea level, whilst the adjacent Burbage Moor rises above to 438 metres, Burbage Rocks is a southern extension of Stanage Edge..
As we walk along it, the views are spectacular with the surrounding moorlands Stanage Edge Carl Wark and Higger Tor..

Leaving this rocky escarpment, our route joins a track up Fiddlers Elbow which takes us onto Higger Tor,
an impressive gritstone rock formation with scenic views of the Burbage Valley and surrounding countryside..
Huge gritstone boulders stand guarding this windy plateau..
The Tor of neighbouring Carl Wark, is regarded as an Iron Age Hill Fort, although the date of construction is unknown, likely to be somewhere between 500 and 800 years BC..

Descending this rugged rocky Tor, our route heads over beautiful moorland with far reaching views and heads up onto the rocky Millstone Edge with spectacular views all the way..

Coming off Millstone Edge, our route
heads through woodland to Bolehill Quarry, a beautiful wooded area surrounded by old moss covered millstones and the rocky escarpment of the quarry..
As we walk alongside the Quarry,
our path heads through the tranquil Bolehill Woods, birch trees and ancient oak stand tall between moss covered paths..
The path continues through this magical woodland, a Designated Site of Special Scientific Interest..

Our path emerges near Grindleford Station and we join the stunning Padley Gorge path, a wooded ravine with flowing rocky streams and waterfalls of Burbage Brook..

At the end of Padley Gorge, we reach a footbridge and head onto the Longshaw Estate, a beautiful area of ancient woodland, beautiful moorland and parkland..

Coming to the end of our walk, we reach Longshore Cafe and Toilets, having a rest before we cross over the road to the Foxhouse Inn where we started our walk..

Moderately challenging, with some ascents and descents on rocky paths, edges and woodland

Catching up points and plenty of breaks along the way as always

Bring a picnic lunch snacks and plenty of water to keep you going

Walking boots are advised, as always dress accordingly

Looking forward to sharing this adventure with you..
