What we’re about
This group aims to provide an environment where topics can be discussed and presented from differing view points and opinions. Provided the conversation remains in good faith, follows the guidelines below and is discussed rationally, no topic is off limits.
In a world that's become increasingly polarised, we believe now is an important time to advocate for civil discourse and debate.
The core objective of the group is to discuss and present a wide variety of topics/ issues from multiple perspectives and to present these topics/issues from opposing views/perspectives.
There will be two types of events: Discussions and Member Forums.
Discussions are events with guest speakers.
Member Forums will be events where members of this group can discuss various topics in an open forum.
If you have an idea for a topic, guest speaker or anything else, please reach out by posting on the group discussions or messaging the organizer/s.
Guidelines:
- No topic is off limits under the auspices that topics are discussed in good faith;
- Any blatant incitement to violence or blatant hatred aimed at a group or person, by a speaker or any member, will not be tolerated.
- We will only stop a discussion if there are clear examples of a breach of these guidelines.
- Hatred is defined as prejudiced hostility or animosity, ill will or resentment.
- Blatant is defined as completely obvious, conspicuous or obtrusive.
- Incitement is defined as to move to action, stir up, spur on or urge on.
Feeling personally ‘offended’ or ‘uncomfortable’ by a discussion topic will not be treated as a reason to stop that discussion. Nonetheless, if you feel the above guidelines are being breached, please reach out.
