Capoeira Beira Mar Chesapeake brings the living tradition of Afro-Brazilian capoeira to Chesapeake. Our classes are led by Chaleira (Coach Phil), a dedicated practitioner teaching under Mestre Bundo, within the lineage of Capoeira Beira Mar.

Capoeira is a dynamic art that blends movement, rhythm, music, and self-expression. In each class, students develop strength, agility, coordination, and awareness while learning to move fluidly between attack, defense, and play. Training includes fundamental movements (ginga, esquivas, kicks, and acrobatics), partner drills, and participation in the roda, where capoeira truly comes alive.

Our Chesapeake classes are welcoming and community-focused, open to beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Beyond physical training, students learn the cultural foundations of capoeira—its music, instruments, songs, and history—rooted in resistance, creativity, and connection.
Whether your goal is fitness, self-confidence, cultural exploration, or joining a supportive martial arts community, Capoeira Beira Mar offers a space to grow, train, and move with purpose.
