The Gaskell Halloweeen Costume Ball
Details
This year, the Halloween Ball will be our only dance of the year - so don't miss it!
While you can come in formal attire, Halloween is a chance to shine, so start finding/making your costume now. And bring your camera, as there we be all sorts of interesting costumes to be seen.
Costumes can include historical costumes, modern formal wear, fictional characters, cosplay, steampunk and more. Be elegant Be dramatic. Be outrageous! Costumes or formal attire are required. No jeans/T-shirt/casual clothing will be admitted.
Of course, do bear in mind that the goal is to dance in the costumes, so if you are going to dance, make sure you can move and turn without tripping! (Yes you can just come to watch and show off!).
No sharp, pointy parts that might damage the other dancers will be allowed!
Doors open at 7:30, dancing begins at 8:30.
Admission is $25 at the door, $20 in advance (https://squareup.com/market/ye-gaskell-occasional-dance-society/admission-to-the-october-th-gaskell-ball-1).
There is an afternoon dance class from 3:30pm - 6:00pm. (Plenty of time to change into costume afterwards). Don't forget to bring danceable shoes to the class! Athletic shoes do not work well.
The class is $10, and will cover the Victorian Waltz, Congress of Vienna, Schottische, and more, as well as important bits of dance etiquette. The class will be taught by Tom Hill, Amelia Thomas and Hilary Powers.
