First Day Hike at Stone Mountain Cherokee Trail and Connector Trail

Hi, it's Angie. Let's ring in 2026 with a hike in Stone Mountain Park. I'm scheduling the hike a bit later than we usually hike to allow for some sleeping in on New Year's Day.
We will meet near the bathrooms at the walk up trail lot (Confederate Hall) at 1 pm ET and we will complete the Cherokee Trail and the connector trail for a total of almost 6 miles. We will NOT go up the mountain but around on wooded trails. We can also add on the King's Island loop for an additional mile. We can decide that the day of the hike.
There is a $20 parking fee to enter Stone Mountain. You can also purchase a yearly pass for $40. There is free parking outside of the park BUT IT IS YOUR RESPOSIBILITY TO RESEARCH THIS PARKING.
We will keep a fast pace and should be finished in 2 to 2.5 hours. The hike is fairly easy and the pace is moderate.
Plan accordingly with travel time as it can be busy in the parking lot and parking can be challenging. I do plan to begin the hike on time.
