The London Wine, Dining and Travel Meetup

Sam’s Riverside is a contemporary British restaurant on the banks of the River Thames in Hammersmith, within the restored Riverside Studios complex.
Opened in 2019 by restaurateur Sam Harrison, it is known for its elegant riverside setting, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Hammersmith Bridge and the Thames.

The restaurant focuses on seasonal British cuisine, using high-quality local ingredients. Seafood is a particular speciality, with fresh oysters, fish and shellfish featuring alongside meat and vegetarian dishes. Recognised in the Michelin Guide, Sam’s Riverside is praised for its refined cooking, attentive service and relaxed atmosphere.

On Mondays Sam's Riverside offers BYO for £5 per bottle corkage, and for our table of 8 people I will take 6 bottles with an average retail cost of £20 - 1 bottle of champagne or equivalent quality sparkling wine, 2 white wines, 3 red wines and a dessert wine. With typical restaurant mark-ups these wines would cost £60+ on their wine list, so this is a great opportunity to enjoy delicious food accompanied by fine wines without paying restaurant prices (for the wine that is!).

The pre-pay for this event is £58 which includes:-
- the 6 bottles of BYO wine
- corkage fees on the wine
- £30 credit towards your food bill
- paypal/meetup fees

The wine which I will take is an integral of this event so please do NOT ask if you can attend if you are not happy to share in all 6 bottles of wine. On the evening you will pay for the balance of your food bill and any additional drinks you order.

REFUND POLICY: If you cancel your place by Friday 21st latest you will get a refund of £55 but, IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE, only if there is someone on the 'waitlist' who books and pays for your place.

Kitchen W8 is that rare thing – a genuinely relaxed and friendly Michelin star neighbourhood restaurant. The chef since launch has been Mark Kempson whose exceptional cooking along with his team won them a Michelin star in 2011, an accolade which they have retained each year since then. The style is modern English with a French soul. It is about integrity, simplicity and conviviality. Ingredients are centre-stage and they source them carefully from a short list of trusted suppliers.

Even better in August there is an offer to take your own wine with no corkage charge. For our table of 7 people I will take 6 bottles (1 champagne, 2 whites, 2 reds and a 50cl dessert wine) with an average retail price of £25 which would be £75+ on their wine list. So this is a great opportunity to enjoy delicious food and drink fine wines without paying restaurant prices (for the wine!).

64 Goodge Street is a restaurant from Woodhead Restaurant Group, which opened in early August 2023. The site of a former travel agent in Fitzrovia, the restaurant was built from the bottom up to create a space in which guests feel utterly taken care of. Just 18 months later the restaurant was awarded a Michelin Star.

A 4 course food and wine matching dinner featuring the wines of Allan Scott Winery, Marlborough New Zealand. Allan Scott, planted some of the first vines in Marlborough in 1973, and in 1990 he established his winery, one of a small number who made up the first wave of the independents.

The bespoke menu from Hans' Bar & Grill will pair each wine with a dish which has been carefully designed to enhance the character of the wines and create a seamless, gastronomic experience. 4 courses and 5 wines for £85!

DIETARY ISSUES: This event is suited to 'flexible' diners. However if you have any allergies or cannot eat certain foods (for example oysters) the chef can make changes to one or two things. Note that for the main course both the fish and meat dishes will be served to everyone. However if you don't eat meat, you may be able to have a double portion of the fish dish.

COST: The ticket price of this event is £85 to include the 4 course food and wine matching menu, service charge, and meetup/paypal fees. I have reserved 10 places for the group. Please note that we may be on a larger table shared with non-members of this group
