Wines of Cyprus Tasting at Christos' House

Details
CYPRUS has a long history featuring Aphrodite, Richard the Lionheart, the Crusaders, and the Templars. And the wine culture is around 6,000 years old. Famous for Commandaria, a fortified red wine, Cyprus has been reinventing itself during the last 25 years as a ‘proper’ winemaking nation. Winemakers have rediscovered indigenous varieties like Xynisteri, Maratheftiko and Yanoudi, and have moved towards fresher, fruit-forward, terroir-driven styles.
In April this year I organised a wine tour to Cyprus when we visited several wineries and tasted some excellent wines. I brought back a selection just for this tasting! See the photo for some of the wines. So if you missed the tour, here's your chance to find out what we enjoyed.
There will be 2 bottles of an aperitif white wine, and then 3 other whites, 4 reds, and a luscious Commandaria to finish, 10 bottles in all. Numbers will be limited to 12 people seated round one table, so almost a bottle of fine wine per person. During the tasting a selection of fine cheeses, pates, and other food will be served.
WAITLIST: If the event is fully booked and you would like to join the ‘waitlist’, post a comment to let me know
REFUNDS: The 'ticket price' for this event is £30 including £2.50 for paypal/meetup fees. If you cancel by Tuesday 12th August latest AND there is someone on the waitlist who pays for your place you will get a refund of £27.50.
Please note that Meetup charge an additional fee to attendees on top of the price which the Organiser sets. This fee is paid direct to Meetup and is beyond our control.
Cheers,
Christos
