Thursday Pelican Cove Hike & Social Time

Join our beautiful Thursday hike at Pelican Cove! The walk is approximately three miles, and you are welcome to walk at your own pace.

Meetup time: 9:15am.
Walk begins right at 9:30am.

This easier hike is mostly flat and takes about 1-1/2 hour to complete.

Directions: The Pelican Cove Parking Lot is 1200 feet to the west of the intersection of Terranea Way/Palos Verdes Drive South.

[To access the lot, from San Pedro, drive past the intersection of Terranea Way/Palos Verdes Drive South to Point Vicente, turn left into the Point Vicente Parking Lot and then turn around to exit the lot right (traveling south), back onto Palos Verdes Drive. The Pelican Cove Parking Lot (a right turn) is the next lot you come to as you travel back toward San Pedro. From P.V. (driving south) turn right into the parking lot just past Point Vicente.]

Leave yourself some extra time to find us the first time you join us, just in case you have trouble finding the spot! The Trail Head is at the far, lower end of the lost. Look for us at the Pelican Statue.

We go for coffee after the walk at the Sea Beans Coffee Shop near the Lobby of the Terranea Resort is not near the parking lot, so bring some money with you. Of course, socializing is optional, but we have a friendly group and fun conversations (plus coffee & edibles to purchase from Sea Beans).

Detailed Route: From the South End of Pelican Cove Park by the statue of the pelican, we take the Terranea Trail south towards Nelson's and Long Point. Then we take the short section of Beach Trail right to the water's edge and to the rocky "cave." Here we usually socialize and take pictures for a while; so, if you are ever late, this is the place to catch up with us. Next we take the Beach Trail back to the Terranea Trail and continue south along the bluff to the Vanderlip Park Trail, which we follow until it ends at the fence at Coastal Drive. From there we head back on the Vanderlip Trail to the Terranea Trail, but this time we swing into Terranea Resort and usually socialize at the Sea Beans Coffee Shop on the 4th floor (the Lobby Floor). When done, we pick up the Terranea Trail and head back to the Pelican Cove Parking Lot and our cars. If you measure the distance on the map, it is about 2 miles for the entire walk.
