Are you the kind of woman who would rather explore a strange museum, attend a science lecture, browse a spooky bookstore, or discover a hidden café than go to another crowded networking event?
Then you might have found your people.
The Unusual Girls Club is a social group for women in their late 20s to early 40s around Chicago and the southwest suburbs who enjoy interesting experiences, good conversations, and making genuine friendships.
We're here for the curious, the creative, the introverted, the alternative, and anyone who has ever felt a little outside the usual social scene.
What we're into:
- Science, astronomy, museums, and fascinating lectures
- Spooky history, ghost tours, and all things mysterious
- Bookstores, coffee shops, and cozy afternoons
- Concerts, live performances, and unique events
- Art exhibits, creative workshops, and exploring new places
- Trying something new with good company
What makes us different?
We're keeping things small and low-pressure. Most outings will be limited to 3–6 women so everyone has an opportunity to connect.
You don't have to be outgoing, have a huge social circle, or know anyone before showing up. Coming alone is completely normal here!
Our goal isn't to collect hundreds of acquaintances. It's to create opportunities for genuine friendships to develop naturally through shared experiences.
Some friendships might become close. Others might simply mean having a wonderful person to attend concerts or explore museums with. Both are welcome.
A few things to know:
- Women approximately 28–42
- Chicago and surrounding suburbs
- Kindness, inclusivity, and respect are essential
- No pressure to attend every event
- Members are encouraged to suggest their own outings

We're heading to the World Oddities Expo: Krampus Bazaar for a delightfully dark twist on the holiday season!
Expect a weird mix of macabre art, oddities, taxidermy, unusual jewelry, curious creations, and plenty of spooky holiday spirit. Whether you're into gothic aesthetics, folklore, alternative art, or simply love discovering things a little outside the ordinary, this one's for you!
🖤 What to expect
We'll meet at the convention center entrance, explore the vendors and exhibits together, and enjoy a few hours of weird and wonderful discoveries.
This will be a relaxed outing, so there's no pressure to stick together every second or purchase anything beyond admission.
New to the group? Please come! You don't need to have attended a previous meetup or know anyone beforehand. We're all here to make new friends and find our people.
