Join us for our monthly FREE community potluck picnic in Balboa Park's Cypress Grove Picnic Area (next to Quince St. & Balboa Dr.).
The Big Gay Picnic is big and gay enough for all of us. EVERYONE is welcome! (Pets too 🐶) Invite your friends or make some new ones at the picnic.
Bring either —
(1) 🥘 A sharable dish for 6-8 people, or
(2) 💵 Venmo/PayPal or Cash donation at the event, or
(3) ⛺️Sign up to bring a necessary item.
We also recommend bringing a picnic blanket, chair, and/or sunblock. (Speakers are not allowed but music provided.)

Join us for a relaxed, joyful afternoon at The Big Gay Picnic, a community gathering focused on connection, good vibes, and spending time together outdoors. Whether you’re hunting for new friends or just a spot in the sun, this picnic is all about showing up as you are.
This Hoppy Edition celebrates community, renewal, and the simple joy of spring. Expect an easygoing, welcoming space to meet people, hang out, and celebrate the season in the heart of the park.🐣 What to Expect
The Big Gay Egg Hunt: Keep your eyes peeled for treats and surprises!
Community Potluck: A seasonal spread of snacks and sweets.
Spring Activities: Music, lawn games, and "best-dressed" prizes for your finest floral or pastel looks.
The Vibe: A low-pressure, alcohol-free environment focused on community and connection.🧺 How You Can Participate
Please bring one of the following:
A sharable dish for 6–8 people (think spring salads or festive treats).
A digital donation online or cash at the event.
Sign up to bring needed picnic items or a bag of candy for the hunt.
Pro-Tip: Don't forget your picnic blanket, sunblock, and maybe a basket! Personal speakers are not allowed—we’ll provide the seasonal soundtrack.📍 Event Details

Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: Balboa Park
Meetup Spot: Quince St & Balboa Dr🚗 Parking Info
Balboa Park parking is now PAID PARKING. The area surrounding the picnic is metered.
Rate: $2.50 per hour (up to $10 a day).
Limit: 4-hour maximum.
Please pay at the station or via the "Park Smarter" mobile app.

The Big Gay Picnic is a free monthly community potluck in Balboa Park where people come together to meet new friends, share food, play games, and celebrate community in a relaxed outdoor setting. Everyone is welcome—whether you come solo or with friends.
But events like this don’t happen by magic… they happen because of awesome volunteers like you.⚠️ Important Note
