Firefly Open House

Details

Save the date! The Firefly House, in conjunction with the NoVA Interreligious Communities Project and Sharing Sacred Spaces, will be hosting an open house the afternoon of October 15 in the McLaren-Sargent Pavilion at Lake Accotink park. This is the same location where we held our Ostara celebration earlier this year.

A rough outline of the event is as follows. This is more detailed than we tend to provide (especially with respect to timing) but we have a limited amount of time together and a lot we'd like to offer to visitors, so we're going to be a bit more focused on the schedule than we would be during other House activities.

  • 3:00 – 3:20pm - Welcome
  • 3:20 – 3:50pm - A short ceremony consecrating our space and time together.
  • 3:50 – 4:15pm - An explanation of that ceremony and time for Q&A regarding it.
  • 4:15 – 4:20pm - A personal story from a member of the House
  • 4:20 – 4:30pm - A (very) brief introduction to Paganism and to the Firefly House
  • 4:30 – 4:35pm - Another personal story from a member.
  • 4:35 – 5:00pm - General Q&A session
  • 5:00 – 5:25pm - Park exploration and/or crafting activity with dialogue between attendees
  • 5:25 – 5:30pm - Closing remarks and farewells

Things are subject to change, but this is roughly what you can expect if you are about to join us. After the farewells, we'll need to do some cleaning up, and there may be volunteers who will enjoy continuing our conversation and be willing to stay and answer more questions or just chat.

You must RSVP through the Sharing Sacred Spaces website in addition to or instead of your response here. We will remind folks to do so a few times as we approach the open house.

We hope to see you there!

COVID-19 safety measures
Event will be outdoor
Life is not without risks, and COVID-19 is one of them. Masks are welcome at all Firefly House in-person events, especially those indoors and in enclosed spaces. We assume that everyone attending is vaccinated and boosted, but we do not have the means to check our assumption or require that it be so. Please assess your own sense of personal comfort and attend in the way that seems best to you.
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
