👁️🎬 HOKUM
Victory House French Bistrot & Wine Bar, 14 Leicester Pl, London WC2H 7BZ, London, GB🛎️ There are rumours that this film is effing scary!!!
👋 Hello everyone! When someone tells us a film is that scary, we tend to be cautiously skeptical of the marketing. However, this film premiered at several festivals to rave reviews, and audiences said it was truly frightening. Still, we’ll take a close look at these key details.
This films starts to earn credibility as a folk horror film set in Ireland, and that alone really sets the tone. On top of that, it’s directed by Damien McCarthy, who’s already proven himself with chilling films like Caveat and Oddity, which definitely gives it some gravitas.
It stars Adam Scott as a cynical American author who travels to a remote countryside inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, only to become drawn into the mysterious disappearance of a woman, while being forced to confront the darkest corners of his own past.
We’ll be meeting for Sunday drinks before the film at the Victory House Wine Bar at 5:30pm, where we’ll be chatting about all sorts of folk horror. Then at 6:30pm will be on our way to Vue Cinema (Screen 1) where you can find us in seats A5-A6 but you can pick what works for you.
After the film we'll regroup once again for our commentary and Letterboxd review. You will find the full schedule breakdown, ticket website and addresses below this page**,** so don't miss out.
Until then, we can’t wait to see you there!

💀🎬 LEE CRONIN'S THE MUMMY (UNEARTHED AGAIN)
Victory House French Bistrot & Wine Bar, 14 Leicester Pl, London WC2H 7BZ, London, GB🗿 An afternoon of supernatural ancient horror could be just the antidote for a bank holiday…
👋 Hey guys! A bunch of us have decided to go watch this movie again, because some of us loved it, some of us are still on the fence… but it can’t be that bad if it’s worth a rewatch 👀
This project is by Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin and it's a standalone fresh take on the classic mummy mythos.
The premise is about the daughter of a journalist that disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family are stunned when she is suddenly returned… And, what should of been a joyful reunion quickly turns into a shocking nightmare.
The plan: is to meet at the Victory House Wine Bar at 1:30pm before heading over to Vue Cinema West End. The film will start at 2:15pm in Screen 2, where you will find us in row A5–A7 if you want to join us there (but choose wherever you feel more comfortable).
Afterward: we'll regroup for a Letterboxd review then go for a few drinks and a meal possibly in Chinatown. You will find the full schedule breakdown and addresses below.
If you haven’t seen this yet, this is the perfect time to jump in if it’s too hot outside.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

💔🎬 OBSSESION
Leicester Square, Cranbourn Street, London, GB🖤 A wish for Willow’s love: consent is the first to vanish. When it takes your heart, it devours your soul.
👋 All right you guys! this one's intriguing. The film premiered last year at the Toronto Midnight Madness Festival. It is by the American actor-comedian Curry Barker, known for sketch comedy and YouTube horror. Now, he makes his second attempt as a director, aiming for a wider yet still limited release here in the Uk.
The story follows a music store employee. He’s a hopeless romantic who uses a supernatural novelty toy to make his longtime crush fall in love. Weird, right? But, as expected, such wishes come with dark consequences. My advice: enjoy the movie, but don’t try this at home.
As we get closer to the date, we'll arrange our usual meet-and-greet before the film, followed by a Letterboxd review after. Just make sure to check back here for further details as the time approaches.
In the meantime, I’d be careful what you wish for.
See you later! Jonny--------------------------
