💀 That great horror is not defined by how much money is on the screen, but by how effectively it gets under our skin!
👋 What's going on guys! Lately, we’ve seen some really unique entries, like Backrooms and Obsession, which were both made with micro budgets. This is honestly so refreshing as we are just a little bit fatigued now with overblown budgets and tired retellings with no soul.
For years, some horror films have chased bigger budgets and larger spectacle, but many of the most exciting recent releases have relied on atmosphere, creativity, strong concepts, and passionate filmmakers rather than endless spending. Some other honourable mentions are Hokum, Primate, Faces of Death, Forbidden Fruits, Whistle, Iron Lung, Passenger and Cold storage, all of which were made on relatively modest budgets.
It raises some interesting questions: Are we finally seeing a return to the kind of inventive, character driven horror filmmaking that made the genre so beloved in the first place? And, Could this be a sign that the industry is learning a big lesson? Fingers crossed.
