What we’re about
PLEASE READ: The Hiking Hikers Hiking Meetup group (“3H”), established in 2006, is one of the oldest outdoor activities groups in the Valley of the Sun. 3H is proud of the many hiking and other outdoor activity meetup groups that have been spun off from its original meetup model. 3H seeks, through its members and member volunteers, to provide a supportive, nurturing environment for people to enjoy and explore the outdoors; increase awareness of and protect beautiful wild places; and promote physical conditioning and encourage personal growth.
3H encourages its members, comprised of singles, committed couples and married couples from the early twenties to the late seventies and beyond, to be well-prepared for each event attended by taking personal responsibility for their own safety and educating themselves on the skills and knowledge needed to be safe in the many places near and far that this group visits.
Education, common sense, respect for others and the willingness to help, by all of us, provides a fun, safe, and positive experience for everyone.
SPECIAL NOTE: A dollar here, a dollar there, goes a long way. Everything at 3H is voluntary. If you would like to help support 3H, PayPal, Venmo or Zelle contributions to defray meetup expenses may be made at any time to 3hmeetup@gmail.com (Last 4 digits of phone 7923). All money raised will be used expressly for that purpose, and we will, from time to time, turn off this feature as we reach our reserve support goals. Thank you for your assistance in keeping 3H the great hiking community that it is!

New River – Daisy Mtn east side and Peak 2165 – State lands – Mod Difficult
New River, AZ, USFOR THOSE WHO WANT TO CARPOOL - FEEL FREE TO MEET AT MCDONALDS OFF CAREFREE HIGHWAY AND LEAVE THERE BY 7:30AM. I WON'T BE DOING CARPOOL BECAUSE I AM CHECKING OUT ANOTHER TRAILHEAD BEFORE THE HIKE AND WILL MEET FOLKS AT THE TRAILHEAD.
Here is the link for State Lands Permit: https://azland.my.salesforce-sites.com/recreationalpermit/
Hey folks, for my first hike of the new year, I want to try to hike Daisy Mountain from the east side on State Lands. Most people hike it from the west side. This is a lollipop loop hike that is 7 miles round trip with about 1,400’ of round-trip elevation gain. This is on trail.
After that hike, I will be driving back down the I-17 and will hike Peak 2165, which is at 33.8194, -112.1432. This is mostly on old roads and a trail until higher up on the ridge. 3 miles round trip and 400’ of gain.
In order to do these hikes, every car must have a State Permit pass. It is advised that those attending have a State Permit pass with them as well. They cost $16 for the year.
READ THE FOLLOWING: The Organizer of this trip is a VOLUNTEER, not a "leader". The organizer IS NOT trained in first aid and is not a bonded expert mountain guide. You will need to bring your own experience and judgment. If you want to enjoy the benefits of traveling in a group, then we suggest that you stay with the group on the trip.
The waitlist is created to give preference to hikers who have demonstrated the ability for tougher hikes and consistency of showing up when they RSVP. Those who have RSVPed multiple times and have always cancelled or been a no-show will be kept on the waitlist until others who are more likely to come are given an opportunity to RSVP. The waitlist also ensures we do not overwhelm parking, as this area doesn’t have infinite parking.
Assess the route and conditions as if you were going to do this trip solo.
About your organizer: My name is Dan. I moved to the Phoenix area in early 2017. I have organized over 200 hikes for various groups – including in Arizona, the Sierras, and Northern Nevada. I tend to choose mountain summits I have never done before. I do as much preparation and mapping as I can to ensure we take the correct trails. However, when driving to and hiking in a new area, there are always surprises and unknowns.
This hike is subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to fires or inclement weather.16 attendees
