Hiking Hikers Hiking Group ("3H")

This is a beautiful hike. It's one of my favorites. You'll love it if you are a regular hiker that hikes for the joy of being in nature and meeting new people. It is NOT a good hike for beginners or hikers that have a need for speed.
Difficulty: intermediate length and lots of elevation climbs make it a challenging but doable hike for experienced average hikers
Length: 9.1 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,500 ft approx.
Trail Description: It is long hike with multiple demanding elevation gains and descents. I hike at a steady but "slower" pace, (speed is so subjective, so think... averaging around 2 mph on challenging terrain, not sidewalks, slower on steep inclines, faster on the rolling sections).
We'll start at the Peralta Trailhead but follow the path towards Bluff Springs. It goes up a very steep incline and down the other side possibly seeing a bit of water as we walk through Bluff Springs Canyon Creek area. There is a variety of level-ish, rolling, and small inclines as we get deeper into this gorgeous area with some minor route -finding. We'll turn right on to the Dutchman Trail and follow it up and around MIners Summit. We can take a snack break at the summit. Then we will descend into an area with lots of interesting views before starting our final climb up and over the ridge and back to the Peralta trailhead.

Come Prepared: wear your hiking attire, make sure your hiking shoes/boots are in good shape, a minimum of 3 liters of water, the hike downloaded on your phone, snacks, your own first aid kit (bandages, tweezers/comb to remove cactus needles, duct tape for equipment & minor body repairs), knowledge about the trail- download the trail on your favorite app: Alltrails, Gaia, ?
DOGS: Please leave the furry friends at home.

Join me for an intermediate hike from the the Pima Canyon parking lot.
We will be hiking in a lollipop shape starting on the National Trail to the Javelina to the Mormon and back down the Pima Wash where we will discover petroglyphs and metates from indingenous peoples.This will be a 5.75 miles loop hike with just over 900 ft in elevation with views of the valley.

Please meet at the covered ramada closest to the drinking fountains at 8:30 am.

Bring 2 liters of water and wear sturdy shoes as the trail is rocky. Poles might be useful for the hill section.

We are happy to have you join our outings. Keep in mind Event Organizers are volunteers, not professional guides. In signing up for any of our events, you are assuming responsibility for your own health and safety. We do our best to walk a comfortable pace and strive to not leave anyone behind. However, you must take responsibility for yourself by researching the hike/destination in advance and determining in advance if your body is up for the challenge; arriving on time; being prepared with adequate clothing for the conditions; wearing proper footwear; and most importantly, knowing and adhering to your own physical limitations.

This is a 2.9 mile nonsweep fitness hike loop. We start by going up Marcos De Niza, across the ridgeline to the stone houses and then return to the parking lot down the road. There are a 4 up climbs and 1 down climb. We start promptly at 5:30pm from the bathroom Ramada at the Pima entrance trailhead off 48th St. In Ahwatukee between 48th St & Guadalupe Rd. Phoenix). We try and complete this hike within 1 hour. Please bring a headlamp and plenty of water.
