Casual trip to Buckskin Gulch, Toad's Stool, White Pocket and Horseshoe Bend

Details

This is a casual, scenic trip by Page, AZ to the most scenic landmarks that area has to offer! I just want to be clear that this is NOT my usual extreme hiking pace with 8-20 miles. Plenty of picture opportunities if you are looking for a trip with kids, or a casual and leisurely pace.

While hiking will be involved, it will be casual, slow paced, and limited.

Plan: Drive up Friday afternoon / evening, grab a hotel. You can just drive up super early Saturday if you wish.

Saturday we'll visit Buckskin Gulch. ~3 miles RT (easy walk with 1 small down-climb we can get everyone through). Bring $6 cash for permit.

We'll probably turn around at the confluence, which will give you a nice feel of the towering 30+ foot walls and the narrow nature of the canyon.

We'll have lunch somewhere along the way.

On the way back to Page, I plan to stop by Toad's Stool. This is a ~1.5 mile RT hike with scenic rock formations.

If we have time, and the sun is still up, we'll stop at Lake Powell for a few minutes. I know a great spot to take pictures from of this beautiful lake. Plus we can walk in sand, and soak our feet in the water if it's warm outside.

We return to the hotel Saturday night (dinner plans may or may not be with group).

Sunday we'll visit the famous and photographic White Pocket. While this is an only ~0.5 mi RT hike, this is a SUPER scenic part of this area, and is fantastic!!! Please note that for visit the White Pocket you WILL NEED a 4WD or at least a high clearance vehicle. You'll have to log quite a few dirt road miles to get there, and if unlucky, there could be deep sand.

On our way home we'll stop at Horseshoe Bend and take photos, which is again ~0.5 miles RT walk.

Then we'll drive home to Phoenix.

EVERYONE IS ON THEIR OWN FOR THE HOTELS or other accommodation. Camping is an option, but the nights are in the low 30s. You can get rooms between $40-80 per night in Page. Some hotels allow dogs for an additional fee.

You are, of course, welcome to tag along and hike way into / through Buckskin Gulch (21 mi to White House) assuming you find a partner(s) to set up a shuttle with. You can just use the day hiking, and use this an excuse to come up and set up a trip.
