Flagstaff area distance hiking/camping

Last June I posted a hike that I didn't have much confidence in gaining a turnout for. A bit on the extreme side. Low and behold, 7 of us set out on a lengthy journey that day for a memorable adventure. Well, maybe one day I'll have to post something similar... So for my birthday, I'm proud to present Annual Flagstaff Extreme Pt II.

Similar yet different from last year. The road in to Locket Meadow has been shut down for multiple years now & will not be reopening this season. So be it, 3 miles on a dirt road (guaranteed no vehicles) with great views & 900 ft of gain. Yes Locket Meadow is partially burned but still shows beauty further in. Then onto amazing Inner Basin and up to Snowslide Spring.

Distance: 15 miles out n back
Start: 7,664 ft.
Spring: 11k ft.
AEG: 3,600 ft.

Carpool: Target I-17 & 101 on side toward 7-11 gas station just W of 27th Ave. You'll see us or we'll find you. :)

Regardless of if that outing is too much or not enough, I've got you. 😃Skip that day or add to that day, your choice. For those that leave, the return time is based on you, depending on our pace. For those that stay, we can camp that night and party a bit. Am eyeing a couple camping spots. A couple possibilities off Lake Mary Rd. One is dispersed, the other is Canyon Vista Campground which has spaces available for $26. Feel secluded yet bout 10 mins from Flag.

On Sunday we will hit the AZT #34 SF Peaks to rack up more pretty mileage. The 2nd outing is not as strenuous as the 1st. Will be car camping as opposed to backpacking. Campfires are currently strictly forbidden across Flagstaff. A full 30 miles in 2 days if able to do both.😎

AZT: 14.5+ miles out n back + 1 mile Aspen Loop
Start: 7,400 ft.
High point during loop: 9,125 ft.
AEG: 2k
Going out to eat one or both nights is likely.
