The Crack at Wet Beaver Creek/Sacred Mtn. Pueblo

Details
Let's go swimming at The Crack! This is somewhere I've been returning to for over 30 years. Located a short drive off of the I17 just North of Camp Verde off of Hwy 179. After exiting the Hwy a left turn will take you to Sedona, but a right turn will lead you to the Bell Trailhead parking lot where the hike to The Crack begins. It is a 7 mile round trip hike. If it's not too hot and we are up for more adventure we will do a short hike up Sacred Mountain afterwards.
Camp Verde is not much cooler in temperature than Phoenix which makes this amazing creek perfect for swimming in! There are rocks and cliffs of many different heights for jumping and diving into the water. Sunbathing on the red rocks is ideal after dipping into the deep cold water.
It's wise to get an early start as Bell Trail is in the sun for most of the hike. I think the hike is an awesome way to prepare for a swim at The Crack! Hopefully, we will be at the swimming hole no later than 930am, and plan on starting at the trailhead by 745-8am. This adventure requires clear and beautiful skies. I will cancel the trip if there is a chance of monsoon activity. The road to Bell Trail is fine for any vehicle to navigate. We will meet at the McDonald's off Carefree Hwy for carpooling at 6am, have a short introduction and be on the road by 615am. Please let us know if you plan on skipping the carpool meet spot and are driving ahead to the trailhead.
Please come prepared with sturdy hiking shoes and an extra pair of water shoes for exiting the creek repeatedly to diving/jumping spots . Bring at least 2 liters of water, electrolytes and maybe a water filter to stay hydrated. I will have a filter to share if anyone needs it. Please bring a hat and sunscreen to protect from the sun's rays and maybe a towel, but I won't bring one as the warmth is usually enough for drying out. Some might prefer a towel below them while laying on the rocks. An extra pair of clothes might be useful too but I find the hike back to the cars is more than enough for drying out. Please bring some snacks as well to keep the hangry's in check. After hiking back to our cars we can drive a short distance East down the road to check out the hike up Sacred Mtn. and view the ruins of the ancient Sinagua pueblo on top! After the adventure we can find a place to eat in Camp Verde if the group has interest.
As always I will do everything I can to make sure we all make it in and out of the wilderness together safely. Please attend with the same spirit of helpfulness to anyone in the group that might be in need. I will have a Garmin Inreach SOS device as I'm sure cell service doesn't extend into the wilderness.
