Tidewater Science & Reason

Kevin Fowler will be returning to engage us in some great science trivia. We'll divide into teams; there will be about 4 rounds of 5-10 questions a round, each round having a specific theme. Last year, he stumped us with questions that we knew the answers to, but that just wouldn't come to mind. We'll have lots of fun this year, too! Everyone is welcome - bring your friends, family, and co-workers along.

Kevin Fowler will give a layman's presentation of nuclear power, the difference between fission (what we use now) and fusion, and the difficulties of getting fusion to work. He will also address the advances made in fusion recently and why some of the news recently is good, but not as good as headlines might have you think.

Kevin was trained at the Naval Nuclear Power School. This gives him a solid grounding in nuclear power, and he has enthusiastically kept abreast of recent research in the field.
