You must buy a ticket to attend.*** Interested in outdoor adventure? Let's get together and watch a curated selection of the best short films on mountaineering and adventure sports. **Cost:** $25 ([To buy tickets, click here](https://weeztix.shop/jb357zxw)) **Meetup Time:** 5:00pm **Meetup Location:** The Commodore DC 1636 17th St NW, Washington, DC 20009 **Event** **Location:** Washington DC - Cafritz Hall 1529 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20036 Mountains on Stage is a traveling film festival that presents a curated selection of the world's best adventure and mountain films to a global audience. It brings the excitement of mountain sports like climbing, skiing, and paragliding to cities around the world, allowing people to experience the beauty and challenge of the outdoors through film We will meet at a small pub called The Commodore at 5pm to eat and consolidate before heading to Cafritz Hall at 6pm. The first film starts at 6:45 pm and the last ends by 10 pm (doors open at 6:15 pm). [https://www.mountainsonstage.com](https://www.mountainsonstage.com/) [Video trailer](https://montagne-en-scene.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d7696be56eef6d11e5a0d55b0&id=bbb55af8ef&e=19103ab673) **Film Line Up** **Patagonian Chimeras** Directors: Guillaume Broust Length: 35 min Lise Billon’s adventure with Fanny Schmutz and Maud Vanpoulle lies at the crossroads of history, dream and reality. Their goal: the first all-female ascent of the Southeast Ridge of Cerro Torre in Patagonia. This legendary line, on the world’s most beautiful mountain, is full of exploits and controversies. While this movie reveals an extraordinary achievement, it also explores questions about the place of women in mountaineering and the dreams they are entitled to pursue. Are there still gender-related limits in a discipline where everyone risks their life ? **Chery On The Cake** *Based on the original work by Josh Lowell (Reel Rock), directed by Léopold Renié and Cyril Salomon* Length: 55 min Embark on the Kamak ship, bound for Greenland and its pristine cliffs, following our favorite Belgians: **Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll**, **Nicolas Favresse**, **Jean-Louis Wertz**, and their newest Swedish recruit **Aleksej Jaruta**. After 2 weeks of sailing between storms and icebergs, the quartet sets up their base camp at the foot of the Mythic Cirque, a unique spot surrounded by rocky towers rising from the sea. Their goal: establish dream lines on these untouched summits, armed with their musical instruments. An ode to adventure and friendship! **Why I Fly** Director: *Jean-Baptiste Chandelier* Length: 4 min With a nod to E.T. and Peter Pan, **JB Chandelier** offers an intimate and moving film, a true visual ode to freedom. Renowned for his impressive proximity flights, the paraglider reveals, through a highly poetic style, the sensations he experiences while flying. But above all, he reflects on the wounds that have shaped his life choices. An invitation to listen to our inner voice, the one that pushes us to achieve our dreams and live our lives to the fullest! **Queen Swing** Director: *Thibaut Marot* Length: 53 min In speed climbing, it’s all about timing. 24 hours is the time **Kate Kelleghan** and **Laura Pineau** gave themselves to complete the Triple Crown, the three major big-walls of Yosemite: El Capitan, Half Dome and Mount Watkins. An insane bet: three big walls, over 2,000 meters of extremely difficult climbing. For this challenge, never before attempted by an all-female team, risk-taking, determination and complicity will be the keys to success!

Bearfence Rock Scramble- Rapidan Camp/Camp Hoover (Rating: A)
Bearfence Rock Scramble- Rapidan Camp/Camp Hoover (Rating: A)
*You must read the following NVHC Sign-in Sheet Statement/Liability Disclaimer, [https://nvhc.com/signin.pdf](https://nvhc.com/signin.pdf) and then answer the question that you will see when you RSVP with "I accept" to be permitted on the hike.* This hike is about 12 miles with an elevation gain of about 1900 ft. A very nice hike in Shenandoah National Park, to the iconic Camp Rapidan, or better known as Camp Hoover, President Hoover's summer mountain retreat. To add to the adventure, before we take off for Camp Hoover, we will do the Bearfence Mountain Rock scramble for some great views. Description: We will hike starting at the Milam Gap parking area and connect on the Appalachian Trail to the summit of Hazeltop Mtn, (600 ft elevation over about 1.8 miles). We will continue on the AT to Bearfence Rock and complete that loop. There will be an option to do the rock scramble or just hike a short distance around to the other end of Bearfence Rock where we will all meet up. We will snack here while we enjoy the view. We will return on the AT to Laurel Prong trail and descend to Camp Rapidan. We will stop for a late lunch at Camp Hoover with some time to look over the Camp. We will then begin our return on Mill Prong trail back to the parking lot. You should be in good physical condition to deal with the mileage and elevation gain. If you haven't hiked with me before, I may contact you to discuss this hike. Please note: The rock scramble on Bearfence Rock requires the use of both hands. Read the Bearfence Rock description in the link below. If you have any questions about this, please contact me. The pace will be about 2.5 mph, slower on rock scramble and uphill. Hiking time with lunch, about 5 hours. [Alltrails Map](https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/bearfence-rapidan-51f3eb9?u=i&sh=z7o4im) https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/bearfence-rapidan-51f3eb9?u=i&sh=z7o4im Bearfence Rock: [https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/upload/Bearfence_RoadTrail.pdf](https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/upload/Bearfence_RoadTrail.pdf) Bring adequate water/hydration (at least 2 liters), snacks/lunch, and sturdy hiking shoes for the rock scramble as well as other rocky areas, tree roots, and potential wet areas. Hiking poles are helpful if you usually hike with them. However, you will need to stow your hiking poles for the Bearfence rock scramble. There are several stream crossings, which are usually easily crossed. Park Entrance Fee: $30 entrance fee for Shenandoah National Park unless you have a National Park pass or a Shenandoah annual park pass. Military and Veterans are eligible for a military pass, just show your military/retired/veterans ID. Dogs are permitted on this hike in accordance with the NVHC Dog Policy. [https://tinyurl.com/nvhcdogpolicy](https://tinyurl.com/nvhcdogpolicy) ***Please note: dogs are not allowed on Bearfence Rock so if you bring a dog, you must take the trail loop on the AT around the rock scramble.*** **NOTE:** Anyone not wishing to do the rock scramble can also take the AT around and meet us at the other end of the Bearfence Rock scramble. We'll stop and discuss when we get to the rock scramble point of the hike. Carpools: Meet at the Centreville Park and Ride **Suggested carpool fee is $8. The hike leader will NOT be at the carpool location. Driving time to Milam Gap is about 1 hour 50 minutes. Carpoolers should plan to leave the Park & Ride by 7:00am** Neither the Club nor the hike leaders are responsible for coordinating transportation to/from the trailhead. Hikers are not guaranteed to get a ride to the trailhead from the carpool location. Carpooling is organized by the participants and they participate at their own risk. ***If you are driving directly to Milam Gap, please be there a by 9am so we can get everyone signed in for a 9:15 am start.*** **Milam Gap is at mile marker 52.6 on Skyline Drive , GPS 38.49985, -78.44556** . ***Please note: The hike starts at Milam Gap parking lot at 9:15am.*** If you haven't hiked with me before, please provide you full name, cell phone number, and emergency contact number. E-biking the Reston Lake Trail in Virginia with E-bike Lovers
[https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44182368](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44182368) 23 miles. Toilets in the beginning, middle and end of the trail. This trail is approximately 23.2 miles with two short but steep inclines and one very shallow water crossing. It took considerable time to design this route, showing the best Reston offers. Our challenge was to cross the Dulles Access Road in an e-bike-friendly way. Most miles are on protected cycling paths, including the W&OD trail. Even if you live in Reston, most connecting trails may be new to you. Just some 30 minutes from Washington DC is Reston. We will be e-biking from the Water Mine Family Swimming Hole to Reston in the vicinity of Reston's man-made lakes. Reston is a recently established urban area. It was founded in 1964 to revolutionize postwar urban planning. It is known for its two golf courses, lakes, ponds, a high density of trees, and open spaces. We will visit the Vernon J. Walker Nature Education Center during lunch. The trail is on asphalt roads and paths with occasional short, but steep inclines and declines. Please bring snacks, lunch and plenty of water. **Free Ride With GPS for E-Bike Lovers** The Ride With GPS E-bike Lovers club membership is now free as www.ebikelovers.com generates sufficient income from ads to cover the costs. The distance will be 23.2 miles or shorter any time you are fully satisfied with biking for the day. For the E-bike Lovers group to succeed, we must carefully grow our membership. Please feel free to invite other E-bike lovers, spread the word, and let's have fun. As usual, non-assisted bikers are most welcome.
