We are at the final segment of our topical triad of philosophical subjects that tell a story. In January we dealt with 'the soul' and what is a human being. In February, we had a conversation about 'evil' and what might be wrong with us and our world. This month we are having a discussion about 'hope' and what might make things right. Where does hope fit into a desired future. If hope has to do with a desired future, what is the relationship between the object of hope and the act of hope. What degree of plausibility should be attached to hope? How do our desires of a future state relate to its viability. What role does hope play in our own persons? What role does it play with society at large? What is the comparison between optimism and hope? What role might hope play as a catalyst for change? Does ‘always looking on the bright side of life’ make sense? How does a dissatisfaction with the present lay a foundation for hope in a ‘better’ future? Join this Improv workshop for an afternoon filled with fun! You don't need any acting/stage experience to join us. It is meant for beginners and improvers. **What we will do:** * Group exercises to warm up and feel safe playing * Play improvised scenes Each person has their own way of improvising, of playing characters, that are fun for an audience to watch and fun to play. Maybe the mind, with its judgment and fear, is now hiding this part of you. The goal of our workshops is to unlock that part of you by providing a safe environment and the tools to improvise. **About the venue:** We are meeting at The LAB, studio 1. Let’s enhance our curiosity and creativity in ourselves and others through Movement. In this event we will have easy exercises and games prepared for us to associate on life in a playful and fun way, and create choreographies with music. An Example of an Exercise: In small groups, we visualise a word with a 5 second gesture, followed by another person, who will associate on that gesture, and create their own. With music, the rhythm can influence the size, intensity and speed of your motion. The other exercises will be a surprise. We will explore ways to express emotions, thoughts, images and experiences, by creating a safe environment without judgement. We are organizing this event for people that want to explore their creativity and practice expressing themselves through drawing. The event contains a variety of small games and exercises to connect with others in a fun and original way. A lot of times we find ourselves stuck with a problem or thought, either consciously or unconsciously. Being able to draw or doodle about it can often help. When I felt stuck in life, it gave me a lot of inspiration to draw how I felt. It was always a creative and refreshing way of structuring my problem and looking at it from a different perspective. I’m now looking forward to practicing more of this. I will bring paper and pens, that we need for the exercises. Feel free to bring your own drawing tools (colors, sketchbooks, pencils, etc.).
