MoCo Code & Coffee December: Cocoa Patch
## Details
MoCo Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal, co-working session. We're community-led and community-run by devs, for devs. People of all skill levels are invited. Especially new devs!
Bring a laptop, ideas, and we'll provide the coffee and snacks.
**Here's how it works**
At 6:00pm pm everyone introduces themselves and briefly mention what brought them to Code & Coffee today (project, homework, networking, etc.)
Round 1:
1. Your name
2. What you're working on
3. What you can help others with
Round 2:
* Job opportunities you're hiring for OR announce that you are looking for one. If none, that's cool.
Round 3:
* Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.
**After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized!**
1. For the rest of the day, folks work on their projects, providing one another with help, and/or socialize. It's fully up to you.

Open Shop Hours
We will have open shop hours for anyone to bring their bikes to work on or need help fixing your own bike.
We will also have bikes that need to be fixed so you can learn if you like.
We will need everyone to sign in when arriving and sign out when leaving so we can keep track of volunteer hours and shop times.

Join PSW ScienceĀ® on December 19th at 8 PM as we welcome Davey Smith, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Clinical and Translational Research at UCSD. Smith will explain UCSD's "Last Gift" program which follows people with HIV closely near the end of life and then studies many organs right after death. In addition to HIV reserach, this model opens new windows on cancer, brain and nerve diseases like Alzheimerās and Parkinsonās, in addition to heart and lung disease. During the question and answer period, in-person attendees and live stream viewers may ask the speaker questions, and in-person attendees may also engage with the speaker during the post-lecture reception. Sarah Lu, Foster Program Coordinator at the [Humane Rescue Alliance](https://www.humanerescuealliance.org/), will join [Pro-Animals DC](https://proanimaldc.org/) and the [Veg Society of DC](http://www.vsdc.org/) to explore the overpopulation of companion animals, the impact of the economy on this issue, the challenges and controversies facing animal welfare organizations, and ways you can help a cat or dog find a better future.
We will have a special guest join us - an adoptable dog from HRA ā but unfortunately, we cannot have other dogs attend.
Before and after the presentation, we will enjoy a potluck of vegan savory and sweet snacks. Please bring finger food and sweets to share. Note that there are no kitchen facilities available, so plan accordingly. We will have coffee and water available.

Weāll host non-profits such as Pro-Animal Future, International Council for Animal Welfare, DC Voters for Animals, The Humane League, Mercy for Animals and Direct Action Everywhere as well as local grassroots groups like the DC Coalition Against Foie Gras and sanctuaries. Weāll also have special sessions related to health, nutrition and mindfulness!
We encourage anyone who is interested in helping animals to attend- no need to be vegan! Come learn about our rich variety of local activism. With protests, outreach, wheat-pasting, signature collecting, leafletting, lobbying, tabling etc. thereās something to match everyoneās comfort level and skill set.
Coffee, bagels and community will be provided! Feel free to bring any extra treats to share (no animal products please.) Hope to see you soon! :)

This special holiday event will be AT GAMEARENA near the Gateway!!! Come with games if you like but also come just to chill and relax with new and old friends before we end the 2025 year. Don't have a game to show? Not a problem! All are welcomed and invited from all ages and backgrounds. The more we can have to play test our games the better!
**Developers:**
Do you have a game that you would like to get critical feedback on? Would you like an excuse to work on a game with other talented artists, programmers, musicians, designers, and writers? Digital, table-top, non-experienced developers, and the like are welcomed! We'll provide signage for your game to help others learn more about your work. Wifi, outlets, tables, and seats (though standing tables also) are available.
Come to the Prototype and Play workshop to collaborate and meet local game developers for an evening of epic and raw game play fun! Play works-in-progress, show off your own game, work with others to add polish to a game, or even lend your talents to other fellow developers. For this event, light snacks from the bar and water will be provided!

WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like youāve seen in period films such as āPride and Prejudiceā, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. Thatās English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like āswing your partnerā and ādo-si-do,ā like youāve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alĆ” āRiverdance.ā Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THATās Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
