Using a fusion of hardwood and softwood, this five-week course will teach you the fundamentals of woodwork and give you an opportunity to use classic hand tools; brass-backed tenon saws, sharp wood chisels and delicately honed vintage wood planes. This well-proportioned flip-lidded box is constructed of European redwood using a single dovetail joint at each corner and the fitted hardwood lid is attached to the base by a handmade ‘dowel’ peg hinge. The project will familiarise learners with many classic woodwork techniques and is taught with patience and enthusiasm by Andy Nicholl, who has devised this informative and challenging project. Using a mixture of traditional hand tools and modern drills and saws, experienced Woodworker, Len Conway will guide and inspire you as he teaches age-old techniques in joinery. Even with the advent of power tools, the craft is still practised by hand as a sign of respect towards their heritage, culture, and traditions. Japanese woodworking is all about principle, discipline, and accuracy. The lack of power tools is a testament to the practice put into mastering the craft. Experienced woodworker Auram Desforges is a Japanese joinery enthusiast. He will guide you through the Japanese tools and techniques to make several wood joints. Every week is a badminton academy for improver/intermediate/advanced standard. I also run thirteen teams that play in leagues out of the academy. Hello lovely Wytchery people! The next Wytchery workshop is open for booking now for Wednesday 13th May 7-9pm. As usual, it is at Treadwells Bookshop in London. This workshop is all about spells and hexes, how to create one that will work for you and how to add to your craft using and charging objects such as herbs, crystals and other objects. We will have a discussion about the various types of spells, the ethics behind them and the ways in which you can develop and use them. You will make a small poppet, stuffed with magical intent and we will have a short ritual to charge it up and help you learn new ways of raising power in ritual to enhance your spell work. Hope to see you there! **We are asking for a fee of £10 (+booking fee) to cover Treadwell’s overheads as well as the cost of any supplies.
