**⚠️ IMPORTANT: REGISTRATION MANDATORY ⚠️** Registration on **Luma** is **REQUIRED** to attend this event. **Link: https://luma.com/q57evozo?utm_source=meetup** Your registration is subject to host approval. You must complete the registration process on lu.ma to receive the full event location details and confirmation of your attendance. **Please note: Without approved registration on Luma, you will NOT be able to access the event location or attend.** We are excited to host a **BLISS x dida** workshop featuring **Elias Trommer** from **Infineon**, who will guide us through an interactive session on Embedded AI. **Title:** Deep Learning Models on 5€ microcontrollers 📅 **Date:** 29.04.2026 🕕 **Time:** 18:00 📍 **Location:** TU Berlin Marchstrasse 23 [Room 0.011] The session will last around 2 hours, followed by a networking session with **dida** and fellow AI enthusiasts (and free pizza!🍕). Bring your laptop! *** **Abstract**: In this workshop, we will discuss the unique challenges (and solutions) faced when deploying Deep Learning models to embedded microcontrollers. These tiny devices are increasingly capable of running models, even for relatively complex use cases, but come without many of the comforts of a classic computer. When deploying a model to a microcontroller, a much deeper understanding of the physical hardware and good knowledge of the various optimization paths that help reduce the resource consumption of an application is needed. We aim to shed some light on how to deploy models to these cheap, ubiquitous and sometimes surprisingly capable little pieces of hardware. **In this session, we will cover:** * Important differences between a desktop/server and a bare-metal embedded system * Quantization for model compression * Anatomy of an Embedded Application * Embedded ML Inference Engines and how to run them * Deploying a model step by step **Who is this event for?** This session is targeted at anyone with basic ML knowledge. Experience with C and embedded systems is probably helpful, but not required. We will cover the most important aspects as part of the workshop. **⚡ FINAL REMINDER ⚡** **You MUST register and be approved on Luma to attend. The event location will only be visible after your registration is confirmed by the host. Link: https://luma.com/q57evozo?utm_source=meetup** *** We are **BLISS e.V.**, Berlin’s AI community connecting like-minded individuals passionate about machine learning and data science. Will AI Replace Scrum Masters & Agile Coaches?
Will AI Replace Scrum Masters & Agile Coaches?
AI is rapidly changing how work gets done. Tasks that used to require experience, facilitation, or coordination can now be supported, or even replaced, by tools. So what does that mean for roles like Scrum Master or Agile Coach? * Will these roles disappear? * Will they evolve? * Or are we asking the wrong question entirely? This meetup is not a talk. It’s a **fishbowl discussion**. An interactive format where you can actively shape the conversation. 🧠 **What we’ll explore** Together, we’ll dive into questions like: * Which parts of our roles are already being automated? * Where do Agile Coaches struggle to create real impact today? * What skills might become obsolete? * What new capabilities might become critical? 🎤 **Format** * Short framing to set the stage * You bring your questions and perspectives * We collect key topics from everyone * Open fishbowl discussion (5 chairs, dynamic participation) * Moderated by Robert Briese, CEO Lean Sherpas GmbH You can jump in, leave your seat, and contribute at any time. 👥 **Who this is for** * Scrum Masters & Agile Coaches * People working in or transitioning into agile roles * Anyone questioning the future of their role 💡 **Why join** Most AI discussions stay at the level of tools or fear. This session is about **making sense of what it actually means for you**. Btw: This meetup is part of a 3-part series leading up to a special event with the author of *10xOrg* in June.
Berlindroid April Meetup
Berlindroid April Meetup
Android, the one mystery left to be solved, by developers all around the world. Let us make a dent into the unknown by meeting, talking, discussing, drinking and celebrating what is the mobile operating system Android, developer edition. To start our tourney today, we got Siarhei Krupenich: Android Is Not Just Mobile: Lessons from TV, Auto, and WearAndroid is more than a mobile platform. This talk explores how development differs across Android TV, Android Auto, and Wear OS, focusing on platform-specific constraints, interaction models, and architectural trade-offs. Based on real-world experience, the session highlights practical lessons that go beyond traditional smartphone development. Following a quick break we'll have our second talk: Dirk Jäckel: From Cloud to Edge: Practical On-Device LLM Integration on AndroidThe assumption that LLM inference requires cloud infrastructure is increasingly outdated. This talk examines the current state of local language models on Android, covering model availability (including Liquid AI’s models and Google’s Gemini Nano), hardware constraints, and developer APIs. As a hands-on case study, we present an Android application leveraging Gemini Nano for on-device auto-tagging — demonstrating how to integrate MediaPipe / ML Kit-based inference into a production workflow. And now it is your turn, please RSVP to this meetup, tell your friends and foes about it and finally enjoy some drinks on Hubraum, Techincubator of Deutsche Telekom Agenda --- Hosted By Mario Bodemann, GDG Organizer 🧑‍💻 Louis Tsai, Android Developer Matthias Geisler, "Geißler" Complete your event RSVP here: https://gdg.community.dev/events/details/google-gdg-berlin-android-presents-berlindroid-april-meetup-2026-04-29/.

Workshop: Writing Characters & Dialogue
Workshop: Writing Characters & Dialogue
**Overview** This two day workshop is open to filmmakers, writers, and creative souls alike - Join us as we discover the amazing word of Fiction! **Workshop Description** *"Whatever You Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not"* [https://workshops.filmarche.de/event/260502_charactersanddialog](https://workshops.filmarche.de/event/260502_charactersanddialog "https://workshops.filmarche.de/event/260502_charactersanddialog") This two-day workshop will explore two essential elements of great fiction: character and dialogue. Together, we’ll first consider (and challenge) some ideas of more traditional storytelling; this is so we can then look at other, more unexpected ways to craft a vivid and undeniable narrative. We’ll discuss a range of techniques for creating characters who’re worthy of audience investment—characters who continually grow more known yet also more mysterious: * What exactly makes a character “interesting” to audiences? * What distinguishes a character arc that’s confusing from one that’s compelling? * What’re common pitfalls or out-of-date formulas for creating characters? * How can you elevate character development from basic level existence to magnetic presence? We’ll also focus on dialogue—one of the most evocative as well as most difficult-to-wield tools in a writer’s toolbox. So we want to demystify why it challenges so many writers. In class we’ll read examples of contemporary fiction writers—like George Saunders, Joy Williams, and Richard Price—who’ve cracked the dialogue code in uniquely spellbinding ways. And we’ll apply some of their techniques to our own creative work. Besides serving as a method for character development, dialogue can also act as a powerful force by which to create conflict, escalate tension, and galvanize a plot’s pacing. Together, we’ll break down some of dialogue’s seemingly more elusive principles, including: * What distinct challenges does dialogue present to writers? * What qualities do we tend to find in or use to describe the better kinds of dialogue? * How do we organically and clearly distinguish different characters’ voices from each other? * What’re some techniques to avoid writing dialogue that sounds one-dimensional or perfunctory? By the end of this workshop, you’ll come away with a greater grasp of how to craft exciting characters, write engaging dialogue, and overcome several unique challenges in storytelling. **Workshop Location and Dates** This event takes place over the course of two days (Saturday May 2nd from 10:00 - 18:00, Sunday May 3rd from 10:00 - 18:00) at the filmArche campus in Berlin Neukölln. **About the Instructor** Alexander Lumans is a fiction writer based in Berlin. He’s been awarded fellowships to The Arctic Circle Residency in 2015 and 2025, a 2018 U.S. National Endowment for the Arts Grant in Fiction, and the Philip Roth Residency at Bucknell University. His writing has appeared in The Paris Review, Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading, Guernica, PolarLit, Off Assignment, American Short Fiction, and others. And he’s won fiction contest prizes from The Sycamore Review, The Yalobusha Review, and Gulf Coast. He received his MFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He currently teaches for the Berlin Writers’ Workshop. And he’s currently at work on a novel set in the contemporary High Arctic of Svalbard, Norway. ### **\*To Register for the Event/Purchase a Ticket** PLEASE READ! Tickets cost between 80 - 120 euros. Education: Past, Present, and Future – Knowledge, Power, and Society
Education: Past, Present, and Future – Knowledge, Power, and Society
**Education: Past, Present, and Future – Knowledge, Power, and Society** Education is a central institution in human societies, shaping how knowledge is produced, distributed, and legitimized. It plays a crucial role in structuring social hierarchies, political participation, and economic opportunities. While often understood as a pathway to equality and personal development, education also contributes to the reproduction of existing inequalities. Historically, access to education was restricted to elites and religious institutions. The expansion of public education since the Enlightenment marked a shift toward broader inclusion, closely tied to processes of industrialization and democratization. Education became both a public good and a key mechanism for enabling social mobility and civic participation. At the same time, education is not neutral. Educational systems can reproduce social inequality by privileging certain forms of knowledge, language, and behavior that align with dominant social groups. They can also function as mechanisms of discipline, shaping norms, expectations, and patterns of behavior. In this sense, education operates at the intersection of knowledge and power. Yet education also holds transformative potential. It can expand access to knowledge, foster critical thinking, and create opportunities for individuals to move beyond structural constraints. It therefore simultaneously functions as a mechanism of social reproduction and as a driver of greater equality. In contemporary contexts, education is being reshaped by digitalization, globalization, and changing economic demands. These developments create new opportunities for access and innovation, while also generating new forms of inequality. Looking ahead, technological change—particularly artificial intelligence—challenges traditional assumptions about the purpose of education. This raises fundamental questions: Should education primarily serve economic productivity, democratic participation, or individual development? And how can it remain both equitable and meaningful in a rapidly changing world? This discussion invites a critical examination of education as a historical, political, and social force—one that both reinforces and transforms the structures of society. *** 📅 Event Details 🗓️ Date: Sunday, 03 Mai 2026 ⏰ Time: 14:30 📍 Location: Hardenbergstraße 10, 10623 Berlin 📱 WhatsApp: For prep materials and directions (Group Chat) [Group Chat](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Ba8ZAaH2Yuk6FGmD3LLO7H)

Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us as we get together to see your choice of two VERY different movies – one sweet and wholesome – the other a terrifying folklore horror! Option 1 is the fun whodunnit-action-comedy-mystery led by Hugh Jackman, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES! Option 2 is the top-reviewed supernatural-horror-thriller starring Adam Scott, HOKUM! Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES: Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and take a look at this ensemble cast: Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau and Emma Thompson and the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein and Rhys Darby. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyZI5oM6hWk HOKUM: In this film, a horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch. It is written/directed by Damian McCarthy stars Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh and Austin Amelio. Hokum premiered to rave reviews at this year’s SXSW Festival and is being release by Neon. It is earning a stellar 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which calls it, “A classic haunted house story enriched with atmospheric folklore and perfectly-timed shocks!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVCIK_MPyhc PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet inside the theater lobby about 20 minutes before showtime. If the showtimes work out, we’ll try to get both groups together for a bite before the shows! Complete details and showtime will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer. Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
