Day DJ is a weekly series at Villa Vida Café where local DJs take over the space and share their sound in a daytime setting. The series focuses on new talent, experimentation, and community. It creates a low-pressure environment where DJs can develop ideas, shape their sound, and connect with people through music. The format is intentionally relaxed and accessible. Visitors are welcome to come by to listen, work, meet friends, have coffee, or stay for the entire set. Day DJ aims to create an ongoing platform where local DJs can grow their practice while contributing to Vienna’s queer and underground music culture. DJ teufling DJ teufling brings a high-energy selection moving through bounce, trance, techno, acid, and Latin-inspired sounds. Expect fast-paced rhythms ranging from 135–165 BPM, mixed with playful 2000s influences and unexpected connections between genres. DJs have always played an important role in queer culture. In spaces where queer people were excluded or unsafe, DJs helped create environments where identity, expression, connection, and experimentation could exist. Many of the foundations of modern nightlife — including house, disco, and club culture — emerged from queer communities, especially Black and Latinx scenes. Celeste Seven years of Villa Vida. We come together at Celeste on June 19 to mark a moment of continuity, pressure, and care. This night holds celebration and urgency at the same time. Villa Vida started as a space for queer life in Vienna that centers presence, voice, and collective strength. Over seven years, it grew into a hub for organizing, gathering, and creating. A place where art, music, and community work sit side by side. These years hold many forms of work: 1. queer joy built through shared nights and events 2. radical resistance expressed through culture and action 3. space for queer youth to be seen and supported 4. consistent focus on disabled, POC, and marginalized communities 5. ongoing organizing in the heart of Vienna This work did not stay abstract. It stayed present. In rooms, in conversations, in performances, in care networks that formed around need. We continue because the need continues. This night also responds to current pressure. Funds from the event go toward rising rent costs and the Queer Vienna Mutual Aid Fund. Both are essential to keeping community infrastructure alive and accessible. Villa Vida plans to continue creating and collaborating for as long as capacity allows. Support at every level helps sustain that path. Entry follows a pay-what-you-can model. ## Editorial Boudoir Lighting Session **Limited to 3 Photographers** An intimate, structured boudoir session focused on controlled lighting, refined posing, and intentional composition. This is not an open group shoot. The atmosphere will be calm, directed, and professional. We will work with: • 1 professional model • 2 curated lighting setups • Guided posing and direction • Structured shooting rotations • Time for questions and breakdowns The focus is on building strong portfolio material while understanding how to shape light and mood in an editorial boudoir environment. Spots are strictly limited to three participants to ensure quality, space, and creative control. Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. Whether it‘s your blog, a report, your thesis, your next book, copy for your website, or just your daily journaling, it doesn’t matter. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area. When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once you’re all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyone’s arrived, I will lead quick introductions and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session. Afterward, we’ll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you don’t have time to stick around, no worries! Our goal is to ensure that every writer—regardless of genre or skill level—has access to the resources, community, and accountability that they need to be successful in their personal writing goals." And what this looks like at our event: We chat and give short introductions to what we are working on at 18:00, then start writing at 18:15. Though we try to start on dot, being late isn't a problem—just find a spot and get to work! We write until 20:00 and then discuss how our writing went. From fiction to non-fiction, academic papers to poetry, applications to work-related writing—anything goes! Nothing is needed except for you to bring whatever is need to get stuff done, i.e. laptop, headphones, pen and paper, and so on. Optional socialising may happen before 18:00 and after 20:00, or you may choose to use this time to get some more done! Interested in sketching or painting? Join us at the Vienna Atelier of Traditional Arts (VATA). Model starts posing at 3 PM. Easels or benches are available. Snacks & tea are being served. This time we’ll meet in Stadtpark for a portrait session / workshop, with plenty of time to experiment and work in different light situations. It’s a great opportunity to practise working with natural light outdoors, work with a model, and also get a few portraits for yourself. We’ll start with simpler portrait setups and then move into more creative and experimental directions as we go. Each person will have time to photograph the model but can also practice on the side, try different approaches, and also jump in for quick portraits in between. The idea is that we rotate setups a few times and explore how light, background, and small changes in direction affect the image. We’ll have a model with us throughout the session.
