Two Castles & Türkensturz: Scenic Hike with Optional Museum Visit
Two Castles & Türkensturz: Scenic Hike with Optional Museum Visit
Hi everyone, On **Sunday, April 12**, 2026, Christian and I are planning a spring hike from Seebenstein to Grimmenstein. This hike is all about walking, wide views, and enjoying the landscape together with plenty of time for conversation, short breaks, and simply being outdoors. **Highlights** * 🏰 **Seebenstein Castle & Museums-Burg Grimmenstein** — history and views combined * ⛰️ **Türkensturz rock formation** with one of the best viewpoints in the area * 🌿 **Varied landscape** with forest paths, open sections, and gentle climbs * 🌄 **Wide views** across the region at several points along the route **Meeting Point & Travel** 📍 **Meeting point:** Praterstern station at **08:15 a.m.**, near the ticket machines We will take the 08:42 a.m. train to Wr. Neustadt and change there to a local train. Expected arrival time in Seebenstein is 09:59 a.m. Trains back from Petersbaumgarten and Edlitz-Grimmenstein run every hour **Hike Options** We offer **two participation options**, depending on your preference and fitness level. Both groups will start together in Seebenstein and walk the same route up to Petersbaumgarten. More information on the trails is in the album photos below. ### **Option 1 - Shorter Hike (ending in Petersbaumgarten)** * **Distance:** approx. 15 km * **Elevation:** approx. 450 m ascent * **Walking time:** approx. 4.5–5 hours * **Includes highlights:** Türkensturz and Seebenstein Castle * **Does not include:** Burg Grimmenstein and the castle museum * **Difficulty:** **Easy** but requires basic fitness **Important:** Participation in a shared *Einfach-Raus-Ticket* from Petersbaumgarten is only possible if other participants also plan to finish there **and this has been communicated in advance**. Otherwise, individual tickets will be required. **Option 2 - Full Hike (continuing to Grimmenstein)** * **Distance:** approx. 19.2 km * **Elevation:** approx. 814 m ascent * **Walking time:** approx. 6 hours * **Includes all highlights:** Türkensturz, Seebenstein Castle, and Burg Grimmenstein * **Optional:** Visit to the Burg Grimmenstein museum at the end of the hike **Optional museum Visit** **Burg Grimmenstein (Museums-Burg Grimmenstein)** is a historic hilltop castle overlooking the surrounding landscape. Today, it hosts a small museum that offers insight into regional history and castle life. From the site, you can enjoy wide views over the Bucklige Welt. https://www.burg-grimmenstein.at/besichtigungen.html * **Museum entry:** €5 per person (Cash) **What to Expect** We’ll walk together at a **relaxed, social pace**, staying as a group throughout the day. This is **not a race or performance hike** — the focus is on shared experience, conversation, and enjoying the landscape at an unhurried rhythm. We’ll take regular short breaks whenever useful. 🥪 We don’t plan to stop at huts or restaurants during the hike, so please bring your own snacks and drinks (at least **1.5 liters of water**). 🌧️ Weather can be changeable, so **basic rain protection is recommended**. 🥾 Please wear **sturdy hiking shoes**. Some sections may be muddy, depending on the weather. Please note that **there are no public toilets on the trail itself.** 🧢 Please bring **sun protection** (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), especially on warm or sunny days. **Important Notes** ⚠️ **Disclaimer:** As always, this is a free, private leisure activity. I’m not a certified hiking guide, and participation is at your own responsibility and risk. I will send a **weather update on Friday evening** to everyone registered. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Looking forward to sharing this hike with you! Jörg **\*The "Einfach-raus" Group Ticket** We will use a group ticket, and it requires some coordination: **How it works:** It is one ticket for a group of 2–5 people. We will form these groups at the meeting point at 08:15; please be on time if you want to participate. You must travel together for both the departure and the return journey. You cannot split off and take a different train home if you are on a group ticket. **The cost:** The more people in a group, the cheaper it gets. Expect to pay between €10 and €19 per person. To be fair, we can either pay by specific group size or pool all the money and split it equally. **Cash is mandatory:** Please bring physical cash and coins. We need to collect the money before buying the tickets to make sure everyone gets their change back quickly. **Information regarding this ticket:** [https://www.oebb.at/en/tickets-kundenkarten/freizeit-urlaub/einfach-raus-ticket](https://www.oebb.at/en/tickets-kundenkarten/freizeit-urlaub/einfach-raus-ticket) If you prefer not to be tied to a group, or if you aren’t sure when you want to head back to Vienna, do not join the group ticket. Instead, buy the VOR Freizeitticket; it costs €19.90 for the day in Lower Austria. This will also be your option if you arrive too late for the group ticket or one group doesn't have enough participants for a group ticket. **Information regarding this ticket:** [https://www.vor.at/en/tickets/ticket-overview/leisure-ticket](https://www.vor.at/en/tickets/ticket-overview/leisure-ticket)

Meaningful Connections
Meaningful Connections
*A gentle gathering for friendship, love, and real human depth* **Genuine connection can sometimes feel rare.** We meet many people. We exchange words. We scroll, we swipe. And still, something deeper remains untouched. **This is not a dating event**. Not networking. Not therapy. It is a gently guided evening for thoughtful adults who value depth over small talk and who long for meaningful connection — whether friendship, love, or simply resonance. Through guided conversations and reflective moments, we create a relaxed and respectful space to meet beyond roles and expectations. You may leave with a new acquaintance, a spark, or simply the quiet reassurance that depth still exists. For women and men 40+. Limited group size to maintain quality and balance. I look forward to welcoming you. Warmly, Dieter PS: A contribution of €25 will be collected to cover the costs, like sandwiches, drinks, cookies, coffee, tea, and room . Additional donations are most welcome. PPS: 1st door (if closed) use code 2008 + push the button with the bell symbol; at the 2nd door ring at Int'l. Management Institute/ System. Institute. Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles. Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator. WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion. **FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends! Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a €6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution. **FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

Humanist Program
Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid.
