Live Code Review - Bring Your Own Code
Hello fellow Symfonians,
we are thrilled to announce something we've never done before: a **Live Code Review** session!
This time it's not about slides and talks – it's about your code. Submit a snippet beforehand and we'll review it together as a group, live on stage. Expect honest feedback, fresh perspectives, and plenty of "ah, that's how you could do it" moments.
This time we are hosted by **c-base** (Rungestrasse 20
10179 Berlin).
Come by and enjoy an evening of learning, networking, and socializing with fellow Symfony and PHP developers.
**Agenda:**
18:30: Doors open
19:00: Welcome and Introduction
19:20: **Part 1: "Live Code Review - Bring Your Own Code"**
**by Stefan Priebsch & Sebastian Bergmann**
19:50: Break & Snack
20:00: **Part 2: "Live Code Review - Bring Your Own Code"**
**by Stefan Priebsch & Sebastian Bergmann**
20:40: Socializing
**Event Details:**
**"Live Code Review - Bring Your Own Code"**
by Stefan Priebsch & Sebastian Bergmann
When Sebastian Bergmann and Stefan Priebsch take the stage together, expect an evening focused not on theory, but on the craft of building good software. As founders of [thePHP.cc,](http://thePHP.cc,) they have influenced the conversation around code quality, testability, refactoring, and sustainable architecture in the PHP community for many years.
At this Symfony User Group meeting, they bring that experience to a special format: a public code review of code submitted by attendees.
Together, they will look at real-world examples from everyday development, share direct feedback on structure, readability, testability, and maintainability, and show how even long-lived codebases can be improved step by step.
This is a great opportunity to see how experienced practitioners approach code, which common issues they spot quickly, and which improvements can have the biggest impact in practice.
If you would like feedback on your own code, bring it along. Please make sure to remove any credentials or personal data before sharing it publicly.
The feedback will be constructive, respectful, and focused entirely on improving the code.
Don't miss this insightful event, engaging discussions, and networking opportunities. We can't wait to see you at the June Symfony User Group!
If you have any questions or accessibility requirements, please reach out to us. Also, if your company wants to be the next host for the User Group, just let us know!

Fermented Histories: Koryo Saram Cuisine
Fermentation and Pickling as Culinary and Cultural Practice: Exploring Koryo Saram Cuisine and Intangible Heritage with Tobias Stefan (HU Berlin)
Join us for a Fermenta Collective workshop that delves into fermentation not only as a culinary technique, but also as a form of intangible cultural heritage. This session places a special focus on Koryo Saram cuisine - the food traditions of the Korean diaspora community in Central Asia, formed largely through the forced deportations of Koreans within the Soviet Union in 1937.
Koryo Saram foodways have evolved in unique ways, distinct from contemporary Korean cuisine on the peninsula. Through generations, communities adapted their culinary practices to Central Asian tastes, ingredients, and environments. Today, their dishes have become an integral part of the broader Central Asian culinary landscape.
In this workshop, we will explore these traditions through practice and conversation:
• Learn about the history and everyday cultural significance of Koryo Saram cuisine, with insights from Tobias’ doctoral research in social and cultural anthropology focusing on Koryo Saram heritage in Uzbekistan
• Prepare morkovcha, the iconic Koryo Saram carrot salad - often referred to as Koryo Saram carrot kimchi
• Make our own chimchi, a Koryo Saram version of kimchi to take home
• Enjoy our dishes alongside staples of Central Asian cuisine
As someone with family roots in Central Asia, Tobias is looking forward to sharing not only techniques and recipes, but also the personal and historical stories that make Koryo Saram food a rich expression of intangible cultural heritage.

Copy the coordinates into your maps app: **52°30'38.9"N 13°22'24.1"E**
The exact meeting spot can also be seen in the photo depicted below (see red arrow).
Look for a meetup sign or organizer wearing a black or red lanyard with "staff" written on it.
**Best ways to get there:**
1\. S\-Bahn:
Get off at Potsdamer Platz by S1, S2 or S25 and walk to the designated meeting spot.
2\. U\-Bahn \(subway\):
Alternatively you can get off at Potsdamer Platz by U2 and just walk 5 min straight to the park.

S Potsdamer Platz /Voßstr. and walk to the park.

https://goo.gl/maps/vDYYaJcFvTmd7hei7

*Who is this meetup for:*
1\. Asians who want to practice German and/or English\.
2\. German speaking individuals who are studying \(preferably\) Japanese\, Korean\, Mandarin or Cantonese\.
3\. Anyone who is interested in cultural exchange and wants to socialize\.
*What you can expect:*
1\. A professionally organized meetup that can adapt to any changes given the current situation\.
2\. A Walk & Talk to break the ice\.
3\. A collaborating venue where you can further socialize with other members\.
*important: This event is at the same time and meeting location like the "Networking & Language Exchange - international" one. So I'm basically organizing 2 events at the same time which means that you can expect way more people than on the list.*
***
Whenever you attend a meetup, the most common as well as first question you get is: "Where are you from?"
You probably heard this question a million times. Well, at least I did.
From my own experience of attending over 200 international meetups in various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand, I can tell you that asking for the name is a better approach.
“A person’s name is to that person, the sweetest, most important sound in any language.” - Dale Carnegie
If you really want to connect with like-minded people you should remember their name, but you don't have to remember every persons name you've talked you. Be picky about that, don't be me who can somehow remember everyones name easily.
Don't tell yourself sth. like "I'm bad at remembering names." It's all about developing the habit of asking for a name and keep the conversation going on.
Furthermore, you want to learn German or any other language. Learning the local language is crucial to connect with the locals and developing a true friendship.
This can be accomplished with immersion. My goal is to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and improve yourself each time you join this meetup.
***BALKAN BIRTHDAY PICNIC***

The nearest U-Bahn stations to the picnic spot are **Berliner Str.** and **Blissestr.**
See you there!
Ellenit
*I really appreciate the kind intentions, but please don’t bring alcohol as a gift. Of course, you’re welcome to bring some to share with others! 😊*
