A modern ipari társadalmak azonban új etikai dilemmát hoztak létre: a húsevés egy életmódbeli választás, vagy erkölcsi kérdés? Ebben a beszélgetésben a veganizmus filozófiáját vizsgáljuk, valamint azt a kérdést, hogy az állatoknak jár-e az emberével összevethető erkölcsi figyelem. Különböző nézőpontokat elemzünk antropológiai, táplálkozástudományi, környezeti és erkölcsi érvek mentén. Szükséges-e a húsfogyasztás az egészséghez? Erkölcsileg „tisztábbak”-e a növényi alapú étrendek? Mi a helyzet a környezeti és egészségügyi hatásokkal? Mennyire kell a biológiának meghatároznia az etikát? A vita érinti az állatok szenvedésével és az emberi felelősséggel kapcsolatos morális kérdéseket is, többek között Peter Singer gondolatait és a „speciesizmus” kritikáját — azt az elképzelést, hogy pusztán a más fajhoz tartozás nem lehet alapja az erkölcsi értékek csökkentésének.
