Enjoy talks from exciting speakers and demo your own ideas on stage. Be a part of our vibrant community! This is a multidisciplinary community and meetup for innovators, creators, and techies who are passionate about learning and talking about artificial intelligence. The event is open from 16:45. The program starts 17:15. **Lightning talks (15 minutes)** * [Thomas Bolander](https://www2.compute.dtu.dk/~tobo/), PhD, Professor at DTU Compute (Technical University of Denmark) * [Sofie Grue Haumann](https://www.connectedwomeninai.dk/speaker/sofie-grue-haumann/), AI Enablement Lead, Enterprise AI, Novo Nordisk * [Ananth Gopal](https://www.linkedin.com/in/agopk/), PhD, Team lead, AI & Data platform, Nilfisk **Demos (10 minutes)** * Christian Zigler & Sebastian Stilou, [Tapp](https://www.usetapp.io/) ***SPEAKER BIOS & TOPICS:*** **Thomas Bolander**, PhD, is a professor at [DTU Compute](https://www.compute.dtu.dk/). His main research focus is on the modelling of social phenomena and social intelligence with the aim of creating explainable computer systems that can interact robustly and intelligently with humans and other computer systems. He is one of the founders and main researchers within the area of *Epistemic Planning* \- providing AI agents\, e\.g\. robots\, with the ability to take the perspective of other agents into account when planning\. He is also one of the central public communicators of AI in Denmark with several hundreds of popular science talks and media appearances. In 2019, he received the H.C. Ørsted award for excellence in science communication. Thomas has also served on a number of commissions and think tanks working on the societal aspects of digitalisation and AI (including the SIRI commission, the TechDK commission, the Tiger Council, and the Governmental Expert Group on Tech Giants). In 2024, he received the DAIR "Lifetime achievement in AI" award for his research and research communication. Topic: Intentions, attention and social intelligence. Human social intelligence relies heavily on our ability to infer what others intend to do or what their focus of attention is. Fluent human-robot interaction requires robots to have similar abilities. But how to give them that? What are the relevant paradigms and methods within AI, and what can we learn from philosophy and cognitive psychology to help us built more socially intelligent and situation-aware robots for the future? **Sofie Grue Haumann** has been working with AI adoption since 2016, starting her career in a startup and now holding the role of AI Enablement Lead, Enterprise AI at Novo Nordisk. She has a background from CBS and her focus has always been on enhancing people-centric AI adoption, bridging the gap between innovative technology, user engagement and enablement. She is passionate about inspiring people to get started with their AI journey, regardless of their technical and has a strong track record of driving inspiring, educating and empowering initiatives that promote integration of AI. Topic: "How Novo Nordisk is driving AI adoption across the enterprise — and how we measure the impact." **Ananth Gopal**, leads a data & AI team in [Nilfisk](https://www.nilfisk.com/global/professional/)'s "Autonomous & Digital Solutions" division. Shut Up & Write!™ Copenhagen
Shut Up & Write!™ Copenhagen
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at our Copenhagen Shut Up & Write! sessions. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, résumé, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: - 15 minutes of hellos and getting settled; maybe some quick intros. - Then, the timer starts! : writing for 1 hour. - After the hour is up... chat / take off / keep writing, if you're on a roll. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens once the hour of writing is complete. Writing can be very solitary... connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. It's best to be on time, but BEING LATE IS ALSO OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check in with us after the session. (We’ll be the ones with the small Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
Fake news, generated AI and the future of “reality”
Fake news, generated AI and the future of “reality”
**Truth, Trust, Technology, and a World You Can’t Quite Verify** We’re entering a time where seeing is no longer believing. AI can generate voices, faces, videos, articles—and entire narratives—almost indistinguishable from reality. When everything can be fabricated perfectly, what happens to truth, trust, and our shared sense of what’s real? This isn’t a media literacy workshop or a tech lecture. It’s a philosophical conversation about reality itself in an age of artificial generation. *** **Topics we’ll touch on:** * When AI can fake anything, does “truth” still exist in a meaningful way? * Deepfakes, synthetic news, and the erosion of shared facts * Is reality becoming personalized—different for each of us? * Who decides what is real: humans, algorithms, platforms, or states? * Can democracy survive without a common understanding of truth? * Are we heading toward radical skepticism—or digital authoritarianism? * And finally… how do we live well when certainty itself starts to dissolve? Casual discussion. No technical background needed. Just curiosity, openness, and a willingness to question what you think you know. Whether you feel worried, intrigued, or strangely detached from it all—you’re not alone. Let’s question the images, the stories—and maybe even our own assumptions about reality.

NOVA Horror Club Discussion: Hideshi Hino's Mermaid in a Manhole (1988)
**NOTE: This is *NOT* a screening, please watch the movie before the discussion.** **CONTENT WARNING: Disease, mutilation, abortion.** **This film contains extreme body horror and prolonged depictions of illness and bodily decay. It also includes references to pregnancy loss and a graphic act involving the removal of a fetus from a woman’s body. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.** Please read the original manga ahead of the dicussion: https://mangadex.org/chapter/bf397fc1-17bc-4fa1-8cd7-2cfd35f8170c Hideshi Hino's *Mermaid in a Manhole* is body horror stripped of bravado. When a lonely artist encounters a dying mermaid trapped in an underground sewer, he attempts to care for her — documenting her condition as her body deteriorates in disturbing and intimate ways. What begins as a strange act of compassion transforms into a bleak meditation on decay, obsession, and environmental collapse. Blending body horror with tragic romance, the film replaces shock-for-shock’s-sake with an atmosphere of sickness and inevitability that seeps into every frame.

Native Plant Book Club: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Join our partners Watermark Woods Native Plants, Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL), and Birch Tree Bookstore for the Read! Plant! Grow! Book Club, which focuses on native plants, sponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and LCPL. At this meeting we’ll discuss the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Both memoir and journalistic investigation, this book explores how the Kingsolver family took on a new challenge: to spend a year on a locally -produced diet, paying close attention to the provenance of all they consume. Concerned about the environmental, social, and physical costs of American food culture, they hoped to recover what Kingsolver considers our nation’’s lost appreciation for farms and the natural processes of food production. You can either buy the book from Birch Tree Bookstore or contact Allison Forbes at [Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov](mailto:Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov) to borrow a copy of the book at the library. There are two ways to participate: attend the event online via the library website or [sign up to participate in person at Birch Tree Bookstore](https://www.birchtreebookstore.com/event-details/read-plant-grow-2026-02-24-18-30). ***Questions:*** *Contact [info@loudounwildlife.org](mailto:info@loudounwildlife.org)*.
