Letโ€™s play... Epitaph / The King Is Dead
Letโ€™s play... Epitaph / The King Is Dead
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination. ๐ŸŽญ **This week's facilitators:** * ๐Ÿชฆ **Emil** guiding storytellers through *Epitaph*, a game where you create the story of someone's life, starting with how they died. Together, you will create the character, the people important to them, and the events they lived through. There's no pre-defined setting, you can decide together if you would like to ground your story in modern times, use historical events as an inspiration, or explore flights of fancy in a fantasy or sci-fi world. * โš”๏ธ **Adam** leading warrior princes and princesses towards a war of succession in *The King Is Dead*. The king of Banteave has died without heir and civil war is certain. To see your house exalted, youโ€™ll have to fight and scheme, ally with your rivals and betray your friends. You were born for this. *** Feel free to ask the organisers any questions you have (here or on our [Discord server](https://tinyurl.com/indie-rpgs-dublin)).
Transgenerational Trauma: Sad Reality or Convenient Excuse?
Transgenerational Trauma: Sad Reality or Convenient Excuse?
Dear curious minds, I recently watched Sentimental Value, and it sparked reflections on how emotions, patterns, and unspoken histories travel across generationsโ€”often quietly, often powerfully. This meetup is an open conversation on transgenerational trauma: what we inherit psychologically, how much it explains, where it genuinely constrains usโ€”and where it might sometimes become a story we lean on a little too comfortably. No lectures, no therapy session, no moral verdicts. Just thoughtful discussion, different perspectives, and curiosity. If youโ€™d like some inspiration, youโ€™re very welcome to watch Sentimental Value beforehand, though itโ€™s absolutely not required. Come with an open mind. Leave with better questions.

Contra dance with Big Scioty on Feb. 7 - First Congregational Church
Contra dance with Big Scioty on Feb. 7 - First Congregational Church
**Caller: Dan Kappus** **Band: Trillium** **Big Scioty Contra Dance** **temporarily returning to our long ago location for Jan-March - First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus 43215** WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like youโ€™ve seen in period films such as โ€œPride and Prejudiceโ€, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. Thatโ€™s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like โ€œswing your partnerโ€ and โ€œdo-si-do,โ€ like youโ€™ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alรก โ€œRiverdance.โ€ Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THATโ€™s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner. Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot. For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/) Please bring your own refillable water bottle. Snacks to share are always welcome!
