MIDDLE BRIGHTON BEACH
**Sunday Walk**
**Middle Brighton Beach – Bayside foreshore**
***Please Note: is a re-post of the earlier Sunday Walk. Confirming it is for THIS Sunday. Those who have already registered, please register again, as the old date is now in the past. Sorry for the date error.***
This next Sunday Walk will head back to the bayside foreshore. This walk takes us to the ever-popular Middle Brighton Beach, with its famous bathing boxes.
We'll finish with coffee at the **Royal Brighton Yacht Club** \- on the deck overlooking the marina and the bay\.
Come and join us. It'll be a great way to spend your Sunday morning.
**Start:** Bay St, Brighton. Assemble at the beach end of Bay St.
**Parking:** Park along Bay Street or in St Ninnians Road, off Bay St, just back from the beach. Parking is FREE.
**The Walk**: The walk is along the Bayside Trail past the Brighton Baths and onto the picturesque bathing boxes, and then return the same way.
**Total distance**: 5.0 km.
**Time:** Allow 2.5 hours, including coffee.
**Difficulty:** Easy, although we are walking on beach sand for a short distance.
**Toilets:** At several places along the way.

Sunday Bus: Jan Juc to Anglesea - 13km and 16km - 1 Mar
**WALK DESCRIPTION:**
The walk is part of the stunning Surf Coast Walk at the start of the Great Ocean Road. The **Easy-Medium Walk** starts from Jan Juc, a quiet coastal town near Torquay and follows the track that daring pioneer surfers carved through coastal scrub to reach the fearsome waves of Bells Beach. The section from Jan Juc to Bells is along a sandy track with high clifftops overlooking the gorgeous and at times wild Bass Strait which connects the Southern Ocean to the Tasman Sea.
Some previous walkers have seen peregrine falcons gliding in the region, but this is rare. Maybe we will be lucky this time.
At every lookout along the way there are stunning panoramic views up and down the coast and into the hinterland. This is the 'Golden Mile' of Victorian surfing with its reef breaks and brilliant surf relentlessly rolling in from the Southern Ocean.
The **Easy Walk** starts from Bells Beach carpark. Bells is where the 'Rip Curl Pro' international surfing event is held every Easter. It attracts elite surfers from around the world and many Australian surfers have made their careers by winning the event. The next section takes us from Bells Beach to Point Addis.
This beautiful section of the walk includes superb coastal and bush scenery. The walk passes Southside beach, another popular surfing beach and heads into the Ironbark Basin where there are the ruins of an old jarosite mine and provides stunning sea views through the bush. The walk continues through the ironbark forest and then heads back to the heathland along the cliff. A hill climb with great views precedes the walk to Point Addis. From Point Addis we go along the coast towards Anglesea with more gorgeous views and then inland to see lush heathland and maybe spot some Wallabies or Kangaroos. It has wide sandy beaches backed by crumbling limestone cliffs. We\`ll be keeping a safe distance from the cliffs! Point Addis Marine National Park is the third largest of Victoria's Marine National Parks and provides a protected habitat for many sea birds and mammals including Blue Wales and Southern Right Whales.
The walk finishes in the Anglesea town centre where there are toilets and shops to buy snacks and ice-creams. A reminder to bring a change of footwear for the trip back, because dirty boots leave marks on the bus that our club pays to have cleaned.
Please note that at this time of year there is always a possibility of encountering snakes, and appropriate leg covering is recommended.
As the weather can be warm at this time of year, **please carry at least 2 litres of water.**
.
**DISTANCE(S):** 13km and 16km
.
**TOTAL ASCENT(S):** 450m Rise and 600m Rise
.
**GRADINGS:** Easy and Easy/Medium

(c) Sign an Acknowledgement of Risk form and pay the visitor fee ($10) and bus fee ($30) to reserve a seat on the bus. No booking is accepted until the payment is received.

\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
Looking to meet new people, explore nature, and have a good laugh along the way?
This is your perfect Sunday plan! 🎉
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Melbourne Social Hike. A welcoming day out where the focus is all about fun, friendships, and fresh air. Whether you come solo or bring a mate, you’ll leave with new connections and memories!
\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
🚙 **Carpooling Makes It Happen**
Wilderness Seekers Victoria runs on community spirit and carpooling is a big part of that. Every seat offered means another hiker can join the adventure. Less cars, easier logistics, more fun together.
Carpooling is a great way to start the day by meet new people, share a few laughs, and arrive at the trail together. Drivers, your contribution makes a huge difference, and passengers, your gratitude keeps it all running smoothly. It’s simple, social, and one of the best parts of the Wilderness Seekers Victoria experience. 🚗🌿
\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
👉 **Carpool Driver information**
If you’ve got spare seats and don’t mind some company, offering a lift is one of the best ways to kick off the day 🚙💨. It makes the trip more fun, helps out fellow hikers who don’t have a car, and is an easy way to make a few friends before we even hit the trail. Plus, fewer cars means less parking stress and a smoother start for everyone.
For passengers, it’s the easiest way to get to the trail, meet new people and enjoy the ride together instead of travelling alone. In our Wilderness Seekers Victoria community, many people are more than happy to help out those without cars it’s part of what makes these days feel so welcoming and connected.
✨ Best practice: Passengers should try to secure transportation before purchasing a ticket to avoid any last-minute stress.
**Important Carpooling Note**
Drivers and passengers should stick with the arrangements they make. We **do not recommend swapping drivers or cars**after you’ve agreed on a ride. If you do decide to change, please make sure **all parties are clearly informed and agree** to avoid confusion.
If a driver forgets, gets mixed up, or doesn’t pick you up, Wilderness Seekers Victoria (and your driver) are **not liable** for any inconvenience caused. For this reason, it is best to keep things simple with the driver you first arranged with.
In the transport chat, drivers will share their preferred pick-up locations often major CBD train stations like Parliament, Richmond, South Yarra, Southern Cross, or North Melbourne.

🍽️ **Food Arrangement**
After our hike, we love keeping the good vibes rolling with a meal together. We’ll suggest a café or restaurant that’s usually on the way back toward the city so it’s easy for everyone and avoids extra driving.
It’s always a highlight of the day swapping stories from the trail, sharing laughs, and getting to know your fellow hikers even better over some good food.
Joining is optional, but most people stick around because it’s such a fun way to finish the adventure. Everyone just covers their own meal, and we’ll confirm the spot in the Instagram group chat on the day.
When booking, you’ll be asked if you’d like to join: Yes / No / Not Sure. The organisers will confirm the restaurant or bar on the day, based on feedback.
