Western China Expedition
Hey boys & girls!
My name is Manuel. Peruvian-Spanish living in the Netherlands. A guy who loves travel plans that involves exploration and certain degree of excitement . Hiking routes, cities, off the beaten path countries and remote areas with nature engagement and cultural experiences.
I’m organizing a small group trip to China this April. We´ll be a group of 6 in total, and we are searching for the last 2 adventurous souls to join us to complete the group.
Where we’re going:
Chengdu – pandas, tea houses, and Sichuan food
Chongqing – futuristic skyline, night views, and hotpot
Siguniang Mountain National Park – stunning alpine landscapes
Western Sichuan / Tibetan areas – including Tagong Grassland, remote monasteries, wide open valleys, and authentic Tibetan culture.
The trip is all about nature, cities, culture, and traveling deep into areas most visitors never get to see, while still keeping things well-organized and comfortable.
**DATES: 14th to 26th April 2026**
**(trip is confirmed to go)**
Looking for curious and open-minded travelers, people who enjoy meaningful experiences 😎
If you’ve been dreaming about discovering a less touristy side of China with a friendly group feel free to ask me for the details.
PyConDE PyData Special: walking guided tour

As part of our caring planned activities during PyConDE PyData in Darmstadt this year we will host a **walking guided tour,** inviting participants to step outside the building.

📅 *April 14, 19:00 (after the last conference activity)*
⚠️ *Limited to 20 participants*
📩 *Registration: via MeetUp, via email [berlin@pyladies.com](mailto:berlin@pyladies.com) or at our space booth*

Offener Deutschunterricht - Text & Konversation - Niveau B2+ (Fortgeschritten)

Silent Reading Club
Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better!
It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading.
The usual agenda:
- Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes)
- Silent reading (~1 hour)
- Discussion (~30-40 minutes)
- Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like!
You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you!
No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.

He later moved into leadership, focusing on technical strategy, system architecture at the organizational level, and team development.
Previously, he was a Tech Lead at Uber, where he worked on large-scale distributed systems using Go, Python, and Java."

8:30 PM: Talk 2: The Two Faces of sync.Mutex / Gaurav Gahlot, Staff Software Engineer @ IONOS Cloud
Go's sync.Mutex has two faces — one that's fast but unfair, and another that's fair but slower. Most developers never see the switch happen. In this talk, we'll explore how mutex work under the hood and how the runtime decides which face to show. Through a series of benchmarks, we'll observe mutex behavior under increasing contention and across different core counts to see both modes in action.

How Lucky by Will Leitch
Posting this early because seemingly all Sundays in May are holidays or busy! I picked a shorter thriller that's hopefully a fast read/listen.

Book summary:
Daniel leads a rich life in the university town of Athens, Georgia. He's got a couple close friends, a steady paycheck working for a regional airline, and of course, for a few glorious days each Fall, college football tailgates. He considers himself to be a mostly lucky guy -- despite the fact that he's suffered from a debilitating disease since he was a small child, one that has left him unable to speak or to move without a wheelchair. Largely confined to his home, Daniel spends the hours he's not online communicating with irate air travelers observing his neighborhood from his front porch. One young woman passes by so frequently that spotting her out the window has almost become part of his daily routine. Until the day he's almost sure he sees her being kidnapped.
Scali Ristorante
Let’s try this popular Italian restaurant in Reynoldsburg.
