Das anarchische Gehirn – Vortrag über Nicht-Alltägliche Bewusstseinszustände
Das anarchische Gehirn – Vortrag über Nicht-Alltägliche Bewusstseinszustände
(This talk will be held in German) Was haben Holotropes Atmen, Zen-Meditation, Isolationstanks und Meisterpflanzen gemeinsam? //We do not provide any illegal substances, nor allow their distribution or consumption at our events. Badminton Saturday at Racketworld U3 Kendlerstraße 11.00am-1.00pm
Badminton Saturday at Racketworld U3 Kendlerstraße 11.00am-1.00pm
This event is part of our weekly event series \-\-\- Hey Badminton Enthusiasts! This meet-up is for all levels: beginners, intermediates and experts. Everyone is welcome to join, test their skills and have some fun together! The host will reserve courts in advance, that means please only register if you really plan to come (or cancel at least 24 hours before the event starts). The fee for this event is 12€ (for the 2 hours). If you plan on paying in cash, please bring the exact amount as the host might not have any change available. We are meeting at about 10.55 near the reception by the lounge area (next to the courts). Come a bit earlier so you have time to change into workout/sports clothes. The locker rooms are free to use, but you need to bring your own padlock - or you can also take your bag of clothes upstairs to the courts if you do not have a padlock. Also, bring clean indoor sports shoes, your racket and a water bottle with you. If you do not have a racket, it is possible to rent rackets from the club, if necessary (3€). Sometimes the host or other members have spare rackets - please ask in the comment section below! If you are joining our events for the first time, WELCOME! Let the host know that you are new and they will find a place for you. Don't worry, we are an open and friendly group. We are sure you will develop connections with the people in our community in no time! **Without further ado - let's play some badminton and have fun together**
The Emperor's New Groove - A Drinking Game Vienna
The Emperor's New Groove - A Drinking Game Vienna
**WHERE!?** We will be in the downstairs Event Area at [Café Aera](https://aera.at/)! Tickets cost €21, and to guarantee you a seat, we recommend you book in advance at www.adrinkinggamevie.com. **WHAT??** A group of actors and a host perform a staged reading of a script in front of a live audience. When certain pre-determined phrases (buzzwords) are read out loud, a bell rings and the audience and/or actors take a sip from their drinks. Audience members are encouraged to participate, but are not required to drink alcohol. **HOW?** * No one under the age of 18 years is allowed to attend the show. * Anyone who has a beverage in hand can participate. A beverage is not required to watch the show, but it's more fun that way! * There are usually 4-5 buzzwords per show and they are articulated to the audience before the show starts. * Actors follow the same buzzwords as the audience as well as additional "actor-only" buzzwords. This is not a meetup exclusive event, so bring your friends, bring your parents, bring your co-workers, the more then merrier!
Transformative Trencin (from Vienna)
Transformative Trencin (from Vienna)
Crowned European Capital of Culture 2026 under the motto "Awakening Curiosity", beautiful Trencin lies right on the Vah, Slovakia's longest river. From Vienna main station, a quick train whisks us over to the Slovak capital in less than 60 minutes. There, we have a quick break before taking another express train to our destination. Once arrived, the immediate thing catching our eyes is Trencin castle, the city's dominant feature. Before making our way up castle hill through Brezina Park, we first wander through the town's quaint city core along baroque Hotel Elizabeth, elongated Mierové Square, the medieval Parish Stairway built in 1568 and Gothic St. Michael's Carner. Underway we'll have fun with ice breakers, discussion prompts and local trivia. After dinner, we take a casual walk along the Vah river bank back to the station. Heading westwards, our return train follows the stunning silhouette of the Lower Carpathians. To secure your spots, please ... Step 1: RSVP here on Meetup first (optional but recommended) Step 2: Complete your booking at https://vienna.ixpat.com/trencin
Open Dialogue – Discovering Together in Vienna
Open Dialogue – Discovering Together in Vienna
We will meet in a calm and friendly place ( Parc, Café, Restaurant) to explore together some of Jiddu Krishnamurti’s key questions about awareness, relationship, and freedom. There will be no teaching, no authority — only open dialogue and attentive listening. Everyone is welcome, whether you are familiar with Jiddu Krishnamurti or simply curious about life and self-understanding. We’ll start with an open conversation around a theme such as “Listening without judgment” or “Can thought bring clarity?” Please bring openness, curiosity, and a readiness to listen — no books or notes needed. The spirit is not to discuss “what should be,” but to observe together “what is.”

Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles. Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator. WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion. **FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends! Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a €6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution. **FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

Passport to Possibility Black Women Exploring Life Abroad
Passport to Possibility Black Women Exploring Life Abroad
Before I head to Atlanta to host , I wanted to create space for us to gather right here in Maryland. I will be sharing how I moved to Panama, sight unseen in 5 months. Join us.. If you’ve been quietly thinking: “Maybe it’s time for a different life…” “Could I really move abroad?” “Where would I even start?” “What about money, healthcare, safety, housing, visas, or income?” This gathering is for you. Join us for an intimate social meetup for Black women who are curious about living abroad, actively planning their exit, or simply exploring what life could look like beyond the U.S. This is not a formal seminar. This is a room full of women having real conversations about what it means to build a softer, safer, more aligned next chapter. Come meet other Black women who are asking the same questions you are. Come hear stories. Come ask questions. Come connect with women who are already making moves. We’ll talk about: • How women are actually relocating abroad • Countries Black women are considering most • Cost of living, healthcare, visas, and lifestyle • Income and retirement concerns • Starting over after 40 or 50 • Fear, uncertainty, and what’s really keeping women stuck • The first steps to creating your own relocation plan Whether you are thinking about moving in the next 24 months or you’re just beginning to explore the possibility, you belong in this room. And yes… refreshments will be served. Bring your questions. Bring your curiosity. Bring the version of yourself that knows she wants more from life.

AFI Silver: BLACK GIRL (1966) with BOROM SARRET by Ousemane Sembene
AFI Silver: BLACK GIRL (1966) with BOROM SARRET by Ousemane Sembene
Link to purchase tickets: [https://silver.afi.com/movies/detail/0100000551/](https://silver.afi.com/movies/detail/0100000551/) This meetup at AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring is a double feature of Black Girl and Borom Sarat. The ticket incudes both films. Ousmane Sembène, one of the greatest and most groundbreaking filmmakers ever and the most internationally renowned African director of the 20th century, made his feature debut in 1966 with the brilliant and stirring BLACK GIRL. Sembène, who was also an acclaimed novelist in his native Senegal, transforms a deceptively simple plot — about a young Senegalese woman who moves to France to work for a wealthy white couple and finds that life in their small apartment becomes a figurative and literal prison — into a complex, layered critique on the lingering colonialist mindset of a supposedly postcolonial world. Featuring a moving central performance by Mbissine Thérèse Diop, BLACK GIRL is a harrowing human drama as well as a radical political statement — and one of the essential films of the 1960s. (Note courtesy of Janus Films.) DIR/SCR Ousmane Sembène, from his short story; PROD André Zwoboda. Senegal/France, 1966, b&w, 60 min. In French with English subtitles. NOT RATED Preceded by: BOROM SARRET The genesis of Black African cinema can be traced to this short, stark masterpiece that chronicles a day in the life of a Dakar cart driver. DIR/SCR/PROD Ousmane Sembène. Senegal, 1963, b&w, 20 min. In French and Wolof with English subtitles. NOT RATED BOROM SARRET was restored in 2013 by the Cineteca di Bologna/L'Immagine Ritrovata laboratory and Éclair, in association with The Film Foundation's World Cinema Project; INA, Institut National de l’Audiovisuel; and the Sembène Estate. Restoration funded by Doha Film Institute. Run Time: 80 Minutes Genre: Drama

Mt Kilimanjaro Trek! One of the 7 Summits. Join us on this bucket list adventure
Mt Kilimanjaro Trek! One of the 7 Summits. Join us on this bucket list adventure
**Our Meetup is off to another hiking adventure! Mt Kilimanjaro, as the tallest mountain in Africa, is included in the 7 Summits of the world.** **It is a bucket-list item for all hard-core hikers and mountain lovers.** We did this trek with Meetup in the summer of 2024 and it was a true experience of a lifetime (see photos below) Let's get to some numbers. It is 5,895m/19,340ft BUT . . . our starting elevation for the trek is 3795m/12541ft As such elevation gain is 2100m/6799ft To compare Everest Base Camp trek, is about 2754m/9035ft elevation change. And Mt Whitney is about 1828m/6000ft elevation change. The key to being able to succeed in this endeavor lays in the route and the support system. We are taking the Lemosho Route via the Northern Circuit. The Northern Circuit route is the longest and newest of the seven established Kilimanjaro routes. It's one of the best routes because it has the best acclimatization profile. This results in one of the highest summit success rates. Add to that stunning views, and comparatively relaxed pace. It is also much less crowded than the other Kilimanjaro routes. As far as our support system: We will be accompanied by experienced guides, porters and cooks. They are certified, ensuring our safety and comfort. Porters will carry our gear. We will have a high ratio of guides to hikers. Our guides will go our pace and support each and everyone of us, regardless of fitness level and pace. In other words...you go your own speed and we all get there safe. More about our trek/trip. As with all our international trips, we picked the best season/time of year to go for weather and wildlife. Lemosho and Northern Circuit is a scenically spectacular and varied route. At the lower elevations it has an abundance of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, eland and lion which come over to forage during dry season. **Each of our trips is personally crafted to offer the best places and best use of time.** *But I don't have the needed gear?!* You don't need much more than the standard trekker's equipment. We will provide you with a list of what is already included and what can be rented there. *Does this include food?* All meals on the trek potion are included and a cook travels with us! *What is lodging like?* We are sleeping in new and comfortable tents (carried during the day by porters) *I am new at this.* That's OK. We do plenty of prep Zooms before we depart. And in California we have a number of local outdoor day or weekend outings you can test out with us. *How dangerous is this? What if I get sick or hurt?* We will be walking on an established, well used trail the entire time. **Our trip INCLUDES emergency insurance.** We are also Certified Wilderness First Responders and our guides are members of (AMREF) Flying Doctor. **Plain and simple, safety is our primary goal.** *How much does this cost?* **Kilimanjaro Mountain Trek $3950 per person, double occupancy. Land only (airfare not included). Solo supplement $600** Trip Cost includes: \- 9 nights accommodation \- 3 meals everyday on the trek \- All Fees & Entrances and Taxes \- Camping equipment such as tents\, tables\, chairs\. \- Lead Guide\, Assistant Guides\, Porters and Cook *RSVP to this event shows your interest, but does not hold your space.* ***The only way to secure your spot for this trip is a $300 deposit:*** ***[CLICK HERE FOR SECURE DEPOSIT LINK](https://www.paypal.com/instantcommerce/checkout/8P9NUAVQM8UEN)*** *Deposit is refundable up to 90 days before the departure (less PayPal fees).* *IF you need an airfare quote,* [Click here to message Anna](https://secure.meetup.com/messages/?new_convo=true&member_id=131297062) For more information about this or any of our other international events, fill out this form: **[INTERNATIONAL MEETUPS INFO REQUEST](https://forms.gle/cQdqYw74gAYqphXX8)** To see pictures from our Kilimanjaro adventure in 2024 [CLICK HERE](https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPkfkUp6sEZVQ-xse1di_K19d1QVmSb5KOLeIjynRoWGv_XFLXI8wBfT61XxAHavg?key=U2tKajBuOGRiZkxBOUtTUG1GbUVRVmlDaERCeG5n) We do a monthly Q & A Zoom: Meet others attending, be social, or come and get any questions answered.
