PLEASE BE AWARE: this group is exclusively for open water swimming in the sea. Before joining any swim, you MUST read and understand all the points below. Safety and personal responsibility are our priorities. 1. RESPONSIBILITY: By joining, you acknowledge that you swim entirely AT YOUR OWN RISK. Each participant is solely RESPONSIBLE for their own safety and wellbeing. This is an informal group of amateur sea swimmers — there is no lifeguard, coach, or medical assistance provided. 2. DISTANCE & CONDITIONS: We usually swim 200–400 metres away from the shore, in deep water. To join, you must already know how to swim confidently — being used to swimming regularly in a pool and able to cover at least 1000 metres. This is not a swimming school. Remember: you swim entirely AT YOUR OWN RISK. The route goes parallel to the beach, about 600m forth and back (approx. 1200 meters in total). Slower swimmers will always be accompanied by an experienced member of the group, and no one will be left alone. If at any time you feel unwell, dizzy, tired, or decide to leave the water, you MUST inform someone from the group before exiting. For safety reasons, never leave the water alone or without having told another swimmer. 3. SWIM BUOY: Most of us use a SWIM BUOY, which increases visibility and allows us to keep small essentials dry while swimming. For safety reasons, newcomers should always swim with a buoy. If you don’t have one, please mention it in the comments so that one of the regular members may bring an extra buoy if available (subject to availability). 4. MEETING TIME: The meeting time varies throughout the year depending on sunrise. We usually gather a bit earlier to enter the water and watch the sunrise from the sea. PLEASE, BE PUNCTUAL so the group is not delayed. 5. MEETING POINT: We meet at the parking area right in front of “McDonald’s”, at the same level as the Red Cross building (Passeig Marítim de la Nova Icària, 38, 08005 Barcelona, near the restaurant L’Scamarla). For safety reasons, if you arrive late, do not enter the water alone. 6. BELONGINGS: There are no lockers available. Sometimes one of us comes by car and can keep a few belongings, but this is entirely at your own risk. The car owners do NOT take any responsibility in case the vehicle is broken into and items are stolen. We recommend not bringing valuables — only the absolutely necessary. If you must bring important items, the safest option is to carry them in a swim buoy. 7. EQUIPMENT: We suggest bringing GOOGLES, a SWIMMING CAP, and — if you have one — a neoprene wetsuit (although it’s also possible to swim without). 8. JELLYFISH: Remember that we are swimming in their home. Encounters are possible at any time of the year. This week, we’re meeting at **Lesseps** to optimize our route and squeeze every last drop of daylight out of the Tuscan-style golden hour over Barcelona. 🌅 We’ll be heading straight for the legendary **Serralada de Marina**. It’s the perfect playground to test your form, hold those watts, and enjoy the city lights as they start to flicker on below. **The Mission Details:** * **⏰ When:** Every Tuesday @ **18:30 sharp**. * **📍 Meet-up:** Hotel Arts (this time) * **🚀 The Pace:** **Intermediate.** Expect a steady, spirited tempo. We regroup at the top of the main climbs—no one gets left behind in the dark, but be ready to work! * **🏔 Route:** Serralada. The route will be published later **What to Bring:** * **🔦 LIGHTS (Non-Negotiable):** High-lumen front and rear lights are **mandatory**. We might be descending in full darkness. Empieza la temporada de alergias y altibajos emocionales. A cambio, aparecen las flores y el verde crudo para crear los contrastes de paisaje más brutales de todo el año. Para nosotr@s, Semana Santa es una experiencia emocionante diseñada con poco sentido del drama humano. En esta ocasión nos dirigimos a Ariège en Francia para cultivar, regar y recolectar alegría y paliza alpina. Con recuerdos del pasado y sueños del futuro, iremos a crear un presente idóneo en nuestro espacio común de culto, que es, sin duda, la montaña. Cuatro días de rutas fusión. Sin saber aún si el terreno estará nevado, congelado o seco, nos armamos con raquetas, crampones, flexibilidad, tolerancia y ale-ale, lo que nos echen estará bien. En la colección ‘’Pirineos impredecibles”. Indiferentemente de las condiciones del terreno, nos lanzaremos a bailar con la inmensidad disfrutando de unos Pirineos poco transitados y exageradamente espectaculares. Lagos llenos de verticalidad, colores de abril y laderas que, aunque aparenten ser áridas y antipáticas, esconden un mundo lleno de vida, miles de flores y misterios geológicos. Cultivaremos una sintonía entre la mente, el cuerpo y el monte. Porque sí, venimos a sufrir un poco, pero también a entender lo que pisamos: ecosistemas que funcionan con una lógica impecable y paisajes que nos recuerdan que el mundo no gira alrededor de nuestro iPhone. The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing a fun and welcoming space to veteran, newbie, and rookie gamers in the Columbus area. Parking can be challenging.
