¿A dónde pertenezco?

Storytelling Barcelona – "Power"
Our theme for June is POWER
Who had it. Who wanted it. Who abused it. Who gave it away without noticing.
Give us stories of bosses, parents, lovers, teachers, crowds, systems—and the moments when power quietly shifted hands. When you felt powerful for the first time. Or powerless in a way that stayed with you.
**As always, interpret the theme freely.**
📍 **Where:** Café El Noa Noa, C/Villarroel 71, Eixample
🕢 **When:** Wednesday, Jun 17th
**Time:** Doors at 19:00 — Stories from 19:30 to 21:30
💶 **Free entry** \| **Donations welcome**
**Please come just to listen or get on stage,** be vulnerable, and share with us, a diverse group of welcoming and open people who are curious about each others' lives. Stories will last from 7 to 10 minutes. Expect ten stories plus an intermission.
**Storytelling Barcelona is a completely free event run by volunteers.** We welcome everyone to get on stage! Absolutely no experience is necessary.
We only ask that stories be true and personal and that they are performed as opposed to read—and they should be stories instead of philosophical musings, motivational speeches, or stand-up routines.
The content is completely at the discretion of the storyteller as long as it is related in the monthly theme and respectful to the diversity and experiences of all humans.
**Interested in sharing a story?** Spots are volunteer-based and given on a first come, first serve basis. [Sign up through our form](https://forms.gle/gDY6vAA7fdiBwAC4A).
For any questions or concerns, reach out to us via DM! find us on Instagram @storytellingbarcelona
**Bring some cash for the tip jar!** We will always remain free because we want to be an event open to everyone! We do have a donation jar at the event that helps sustain the project, so bring some extra change and toss it in.
**No RSVP needed to be part of the audience** — just walk in, grab a seat, and join us for an evening of community, courage, and connection.
We also have a podcast if you want to enjoy stories from home called **[What Lingers.](https://www.instagram.com/whatlingerspod)** You can find it on all podcast platforms!

Backstory Talks: Seth Insua
**[BUY THE BOOK HERE!](https://backstorybookshop.shop/product/8-lives-of-a-century-old-trickster/)**
We're thrilled to welcome Seth Insua to Backstory for an evening dedicated to his debut novel *Human, Animal*.
This is a rare chance to hear Seth speak about the book, the writing process, and the stories behind it — followed by an open Q&A where the audience leads the conversation.
Come with your questions, your thoughts, and your copy to get signed!
### **About the Author**
Seth Insua is an Anglo-Spanish writer and artist, born in Kent in 1989. He graduated from the University of Oxford with a First in English Language and Literature. His debut novel *Human, Animal* was published by VERVE Books in 2025 and by Letras de Plata in Spanish the following year. He lives between Newcastle upon Tyne and Madrid.
### **About the Book**
Dairy farmer George Calvert is fighting to keep the family business afloat. Resistant to change, he refuses to face the reality of his failing farm, his elderly mother's declining health, and his troubled relationship with his youngest son Tom. Newly returned from university, Tom is quietly guarding the truth of his gender identity. When animal rights activists break into the cowshed and Tom appears to side with the protesters, father and son lock horns — and a decades-old secret begins to surface.
*Human, Animal* is a deeply moving story about a family struggling to find connection in a changing world. A BBC Radio 2 Book Club pick with Sara Cox, shortlisted for the inaugural New Adult Book Prize and for Book of the Year at the British Book Awards, it has been praised by Russell T Davies as "beautifully, skilfully told — remarkable, inspirational writing."

Coffee Connections
A casual (but coordinated) coffee break to meet new friends, take a Zoom break, and get your AM caffeine fix.
Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time. Bring a friend or wander in solo. Come for the coffee and company, or just bring a book to read while surrounded by other in-real-life, community-seeking humans. Come by every Friday, or just when you happen to be in town. Make it whatever you need it to be that week. It's not an \*event\* per se, but we hope these Friday meet-ups can become a fixture of the bookshop!
Gathering spot will be in the downstairs area of the bookshop (near the Community Library). Coffee and tea are 1.50€ and can be purchased at the cash register upstairs. Find more info on our Instagram (@backstorybookshop) or website (www.backstorybookshop.com).
Día y horario: sábado 20 de junio de 10 a 14hs
Costo: 60 euros

OpenTelemetry Documentation is a perfect example because it encompasses new, state-of-the-art concepts and spans across multiple languages and vendors. Therefore, its docs must explain workflows, implementation scenarios, deployment tools, and APIs to both newcomers and seasoned users to guarantee adoption and success.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington.
The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.
Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine.
We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you.
The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly.
Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome.
The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit.
Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times.
Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have.
Happy writing!

June Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers!
Our June read is ***Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible*** ***Voyage***
**by Alfred Lansing.**
A work of nonfiction, and one of the most astonishing survival stories in history, we follow Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew after their ship is crushed by Antarctic ice. Stranded in one of the harshest environments on Earth, the men endure months of isolation, freezing temperatures, and near starvation—yet refuse to give up hope. Lansing brings their ordeal to life through vivid detail and firsthand accounts, capturing both the brutality of nature and the resilience of the human spirit. At its core, the story is a powerful testament to leadership, perseverance, and the unbreakable will to survive against impossible odds.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **all** **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! 📖
