Una mañana, después de dar de comer a los perros, Perla sale de casa y no vuelve. Horas más tarde, su hija Ele emprende su búsqueda, a la que se sumarán Jeni, la pareja de Perla, y Valeriana, una entrañable perra que se convierte en un personaje fundamental de la historia. Conforme siguen el rastro de las pistas que la desaparecida va dejando como piezas de un rompecabezas incompleto, el pasado de la familia aparece y reaparece a través de los textos fragmentarios de un cuaderno de contabilidad usado como diario, mensajes de voz, listas, etcétera. Gracias a estas rendijas a la realidad y al mundo interior de las protagonistas, Malacría funciona también como un fresco íntimo de la experiencia femenina en la sociedad mexicana del siglo XX y los albores del XXI. This year, Backstory is launching a **five-month Book Club series dedicated to Mercè Rodoreda**, one of the most renowned Catalan writers of the 20th century. The series runs from January to May, in parallel with the CCCB exhibition *Rodoreda, a forest*, and is designed to introduce English-speaking readers to Rodoreda’s work through its translations. Across five monthly sessions, we will read five key works by Rodoreda, guided by **translators and scholars who have played a central role in bringing her writing into English**. Each session combines close reading, contextual discussion, and open conversation, always in an accessible, non-academic format. [ENGLISH] This is a meetup formed with the intention of making connections between people interested in the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, as well as his other works. Whether you're still working through your first Discworld books (in whatever order you decide!) or you're an experienced fan, this is an opportunity to make new friends who enjoy Discworld/Pratchett, discuss the books and characters, and branch out into other related interests as well:) We aim to ensure this is a friendly and welcoming space for everyone - after all, it's being initiated by proudly queer immigrants from different parts of the world!
