Slopes & Social: Banff-Canmore Winter Getaway (Shared Expense Trip)
Join the crew for a cost-split weekend at Tremblant. Slopes, hot tubs, and good vibes. We are kicking off **go further** with a simple mission: get good people together to do cool things.
We have secured a chalet for the four nights and have **up to 6 spots available**. We are running this trip purely at cost to fill the house, and build our community.
**The Itinerary:**
* **Weds, Feb 4:** Our flight leaves Toronto Pearson Airport (**YYZ**) at 7:45am, landing in Calgary International Airport (**YYC**) at 10:15am local time.
* From there we'll be picking up our rental car(s). If meeting in Calgary, we can pick you up from the airport, or arrange somewhere in the city. We'll grab a quick coffee/snack and head straight to Canmore for lunch, followed by our Airbnb check-in. The first evening will be an option to cook at the chalet or visit a local restaurant.
* **Thurs, Feb 5-Sat, Feb 7:** We'll have 3 full days of skiing combined at Lake Louise and Banff Sunshine - which can be decided based on conditions and group preference.
* During these days the car(s) will be dedicated to being at the ski resorts early enough to get in a full day (approx. 9am-3:30/4pm on the slopes). Note that driving time is 25-60+ minutes to get to the ski resorts from the chalet.
* Any other activities (apres ski in Banff town, hot springs, etc.,) will be planned outside of these times, unless otherwise agreed upon by the group. If you plan to go off group itinerary you will need to arrange for your own transportation.
* **Sun, Feb 8**: We'll check-out of our Airbnb at 11am. There will be a group option to stay in the Canmore area for lunch, or to spend time in the downtown Calgary area. Our departure flight back to Toronto is at 5:15pm, and will aim to arrive at the airport at approximately 3pm.
**The Cost:** This is a shared-expense trip. The selected attendee will contribute approx. **$500-$600** to cover their share of the pooled costs:
* ✅ **Accommodation:** 4 Nights in our shared chalet + access to hot tub ammenities.
* ✅ **Transport:** SUV rental, gas and parking charges from Calgary Airport to Canmore, Banff, ski hills and group activities.
**The Accommodations:**
* **The Chalet:** Our Airbnb is a 5.0 star-rated 3 bedroom chalet located in one of the best areas of Canmore, 20 minutes from the gates of Banff National Park. It has several nice restaurants and stores in close walking distance, and a 10 min walk to the downtown Canmore strip!
* **Beds/Bedrooms:** There are 3 bedrooms with 5 beds, ranging from double to king sized beds.
* **Costs:** Approximate costs for the 4 nights will range from $350-$500/bed, or $87.50-$125 per night, depending on the the bed size and privacy provided.
* **Priority:** Priority for rooms and beds will be to have all male and female guests in separate rooms first, then allowing for couples if available. Only one bedroom will be guaranteed as private. Please inquire for further details.
* **Hot Tub:** Located within our chalet complex is a communal hot tub, available on a first-come, first-served basis during reserved time sessions. A maximum of 5 people are allowed in the hot tub at one time and the maximum usage time is 30 minutes per day. The hot tub is open daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
* **Parking:** We have 2 parking spots provided.

HIIT Workout in a Small Curated Group + after class smoothies

**The event: High-Intensity Functional Training at F45**
F45 delivers 45 minutes of high-intensity functional training that pushes your limits. Every class is different - cardio blasts on Wednesdays, resistance training Tuesdays and Thursdays, hybrid workouts the rest of the week. Stations rotate, music pumps, and the group energy carries you through.
After class, grab smoothies or coffee with your crew. Post-workout conversations hit different - you're energized, endorphins flowing, and the camaraderie is real. The whole experience runs about 1.5 hours.

Winter City Hike and Social

Exploring Toronto in the winter is such a vibe! ❄️ I love a good city hike, and hitting the trails around here in the snow is surprisingly peaceful and beautiful.
After we've worked up an appetite, it's time for the best part: finding some delicious food to refuel. 🍛🍜🍝 Nothing beats warming up with a tasty meal after a chilly adventure.
It's the perfect way to cap off a winter day in the city.

Kortright Conservation Centre
Located 10 minutes north of Toronto, on 325 hectares of pristine woodlands, the Kortright Centre for Conservation combines a natural oasis with some of the most leading-edge sustainable education programs and events in Canada. Kortright Centre hosts 100,000 visitors annually. The Centre offers more than 50 environmental education programs for schools, as well as a selection of 30 different sustainable technology workshops for the public, trades and professionals.

This hike is rated intermediate and is about 15km long.
**Membership Fee**
Members are required to pay an annual fee of $8.00 for the period from January to December, which is used to cover the cost of Meetup’s yearly subscription. Each member may invite up to two guests to each event at no additional charge. The membership fee policy began on January 1, 2025.
**New members** can attend their first event for free before opting for an annual membership.
**Current members** are required to submit their payment at the time of RSVP, rather than in advance. When they RSVP for an event, their names will be added to the waitlist automatically. Fees are payable only when you are on the waitlist.

From the first significant snowfall until the ground clears up again in the spring, [MICROspikes](https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5017-316/) are absolutely mandatory. I will have everyone show them to me during circle introduction time before the hike. If you don't have a suitable pair either on your boots or in your pack, you will not be permitted to hike with us. Sorry, no exceptions!!

Arrive at the meeting location by 09:15hrs so that we can depart at 09:30hrs. Do not wait until the morning of the event to determine exactly where to meet. We will wait for an additional 5 minutes and then start the hike without you; we will not wait around indefinitely.
**Before you RSVP, please note:**
* Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
* We casually stroll along the route making frequent stops.
* Events are limited to about 25 hikers unless specified otherwise.
* For fun and adventure, sometimes we deviate from the original route.
* Do not attend this event if you are on the waitlist, you MUST have an RSVP.
* Please refrain from wearing heavily scented products such as perfume and cologne.
* New members must post a recognizable picture of yourself or you will not be allowed to attend.
* If you can no longer attend an event, immediately change your RSVP to 'Not going' to make room for others who are on the waitlist.
* If you selfishly take a hiking spot and then do not show up, you will be noted as a no-show.
* Your membership is subject to termination if you no-show for an event with a waitlist or after 3 incidents of no-show.
**What to bring:**
* Microspikes.
* At least one litre of water and munchies to eat on the trail.
* Sturdy hiking shoes/boots, dress for the elements (in layers).
* Hiking poles for balance and stability, gaiters if you have them.
* Lots of enthusiasm, a very positive attitude and a camera/phone.

I am responsible for my own safety and acknowledge the risk involved. I am participating voluntarily and the risks involved are beyond the control of event organizer and the group. Additionally, I do not have any conditions that will increase my likelihood of experiencing injuries while engaging in this activity.
The organizer reserves the right to remove any member who does not meet the group's requirements, or who exhibits behavior that is disrespectful or detrimental to the interests and safety of the group.
The trick to not getting separated from the group is to make sure the hiker ahead of you is always within sight.
Be respectful of the environment. Take out your garbage and your pictures with you, but leave everything else behind for others to enjoy.

Bruce Peninsula Winter Escape

***Escape into winter’s beauty with a journey to the Grotto, a hiking jewel on the famed Bruce Peninsula.***
The area is full of unique, dramatic landscapes with stark cliffs and views over the enormous Georgian Bay. We'll be tackling a moderately difficult 8.5km hike through some of the most incredible winter scenery this province has to offer.
We'll hike through the forest and along the beach, ending up at the incredible rock formations and crystal clear waters of the Grotto. Here we'll stop for lunch, taking in the incredible views and the untouched snow covering before hiking on to the backcountry Stormhaven Campsite. On the way we'll cross pebble beaches, forest trails and unreal views of Lake Huron before coming back the way we came.
You're strongly recommended to choose transportation for this trip due to the popularity of this location. Self drivers will need to purchase a permit for parking well in advance. Precise instructions are shared in the trip plan received upon registration.
**Depending on snow levels we may be required to use snowshoes or ice spikes. We have a limited quantity available that you can grab at check-out. Ice spikes are free to borrow and snow shoes can be rented for a small fee.**

Doris McCarthy Trail (Bluffs)
The Doris McCarthy Trail is a paved path that is mostly flat, with a little bit of walking through residential neighborhoods. The speed of our hike will be approximately 4.5 km/hr and the distance should be ~6.5 km.
Crampons might be necessary, so please have them on hand.
Our group will leave at the posted time, so please arrive early so that you can find parking, put on proper footwear, and be ready to hike at the stated start time. Please cancel your RSVP if you can't make it.
Bring water and wear footwear comfortable for walking.

**How to find our starting point in Big Meadows:**
If you are new to Highbanks, the Big Meadows picnic area is 1.5 miles into the park just after you turn into the park off of U.S. Route 23. That is, after you enter the park, drive a mile and a half into the park. You will come to a crosswalk with a yield sign in the middle of it (this is not to be confused with the first such crosswalk you come to just in front of the Nature Center, which you arrive at maybe a quarter of a mile into the park).
Just after this second crosswalk, make a left. Then make another almost immediate left into the parking lot on your left. There you will see the jungle gym and the kiddie zip line to your left. I will be just in front of the restrooms just a bit further down from the jungle gym and picnic shelter; the restroom building will also be on your left.
