Happy Hour drinks are available until 7pm. After a dinner break we shuffle the teams around so you get to meet, and play with new people. Games are played as 4 handed wherever possible, but an occasional 3,5 or 6 handed game is required based on the number of attendees. If you are a beginner or have minimal experience playing 500, please let your host know before starting a game, and feel free to ask them any question. I started with a different platform, but pivoted to an ADK agent deployed to GCP Agent Platform. Identical system prompt, different platform architecture, different LLM - completely different outcomes. This talk is a transparent look at what happens when agentic experiments meet reality, including an architectural runaway bug that burned 1M tokens per minute. We look past the hype and focus on the real engineering rigour required to build purposeful agents, with four key takeaways: * The Purpose Filter: Why does your agent care about this specific talk? If it’s not highly unique, you’re just automating noise. * Architecture > Hype: The gap between what you expect and what actually happens at runtime and why. * The Personalised Flywheel: High-signal distillation requires deep context about you, your team, and where you are in your journey. * Clear Goal Setting: Moving from “autonomous” to “purposeful”. You will need to pack a lunch for this ride, we will be departing from Yarraville Station where there is an abundance of Melbourne’s best cafes to purchase lunch but you will need to do this before we depart at 10 am. Also, if you would like a coffee before you get on the road you will need to arrive before 10am where you can enjoy the best of Melbourne’s best yummy café coffee and food and then be ready to go at 10 am. We will take Ballarat Street to Stoney Creek reserve then get on the federation and other Western trails which will take us almost continuously to Point Cook Coastal Reserve and Historic Homestead. After lunch and maybe a beach walk to the Eastern tip of Point Cook we will cycle the coastal trail back to Altona. For those who have parked at Yarraville they can catch the train back to Yarraville. At Altona we can get on the train. Point Cook can be windy so bring woolens and an all weather jacket even if there is a forecast for sunny weather. Dodgeball is back again! If you’ve been wanting to come out, this is an easy one to join. We’ll be playing for about 1.5 to 2 hours, you do not need to bring any equipment, and no experience is needed. We use a specific set of rules and equipment to make the games run better and keep them fun for everybody, not just people who already know how to play. If it rains, the event will be canceled.

Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure.
