The Way of Words, Weaving and Crafting
The Way of Words, Weaving and Crafting
Interested in meeting new people, discussing and/or learning some of the old lore? Do you have a craft project you are working on? Perhaps a spiritual craft, a coloring book, or a new favorite sweater??? If so, this is for you! We have been discussing the Maria Kvilhaug books of late. Feel free to bring your own ideas. Come join us for a few hours for crafts and discussion. Topics are not predetermined; however we have been discussing Seiðr (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sei%C3%B0r), writing alliterative verse, knitting, carving, painting, and fashioning ritual tools. You can come and meet people and share knowledge of your own craft! We plan on meeting the second Wednesday of every month. This is a very laid back event where you can meet or talk with between 4 - 8 other like-minded souls.

Thursday at the Portrait gallery
Come Craft with us. Don't let the lack of RSVPs stop you, they aren't required, nor is membership to our group. Bring your project and join a boisterous group of crafters in the Kogod Courtyard of the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery - American Art Museum. This glass roofed space is climate controlled and has the most beautiful light for crafting. (If there's an event in Courtyard head over to the MLK library Cafe.)
Bluegrass Jam with Justin Heath and Mari Carlson
Bluegrass Jam with Justin Heath and Mari Carlson
Every month on the second Thursday Justin Heath and Mari Carlson run bluegrass jam for players of all skill levels. Traditional fiddle tunes and bluegrass songs are encouraged, but the odd country or Grateful Dead song are welcome as long as we can grassify it. Jammers should know at least the basics of their instrument, so they can play along with the group. If you are not comfortable taking solos or leading songs feel free to just strum along. This is a free event but tips are welcome [Register & Donate here!](https://checkout.square.site/buy/AOGPVTLR6PKKITWXK5AR75R3) Or just show up!

Rockville Drawing and Coffee Weekly Session - NOTE: PLEASE use RSVP process!
Expect a fun afternoon of drawing and socializing with like-minded artists! Although each Session is 3 hours, feel free to drop in as your schedule permits. This is a casual gathering, and we know that people might only be able to stay a little while -- drop in, and stay, as long as you are having fun, and as your day allows. **Note: about RSVP's, please respect the RSVP process. If you RSVP YES, you are commited and we are all looking to seeing you. If your plans change however, that's OK, but please be courteous and change your RSVP to NO. We are reaching the headcount limit regularly now and it is rude to take a spot and not relinquish it if your plans change... Respect others; don't be rude. Thank you for your cooperation**. All skill levels are welcome -- this is not a competition. This Group and all its Events are intended to be in equal parts, Drawing/Art AND Socializing. As such, conversation is expected and encouraged. ***However, in all cases, please refrain from discussion of Political topics.*** Our goal is enjoyment, in the form of drawing together while socializing, and political conversation is too polarizing for that to happen. We are looking forward to seeing you there! **Note (in parting): Be aware, and keep in mind that our group, meeting as it does at Starbucks, depends on this business's generosity for the space it allows us. As such, please make a point of purchasing something from the business to express our appreciation as a group using their facility. If you are experiencing hardship and can't afford a modest purchase, get my attention discreetly, and arrangements will be made with no judgment whatsoever. Thank you for your understanding... AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s? This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation? We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee. Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus. Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration! This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired. **New to electronics or curious about tinkering?** You’re absolutely welcome. If you’re a beginner and want to experiment, I’ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things out—whether that’s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience required—just an interest in learning and building. While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability. This session will be at the Worthington Park Library in the Olentangy Meeting Room.
