China Study Group: Chuang Collective, "Sorghum & Steel" - Part 3
**This is a the third chapter of our longform Tuesday-night reading group on China. If you didn't get to the first meetings, don't worry - come along anyway!**
This time, we're reading chapter 3, ***Ossification.*** Find the text here: https://chuangcn.org/journal/one/sorghum-and-steel/3-ossification/
\-\-\-\-
About the China Study Group:
What can we learn from the Chinese Revolution? That's the question we'll seek to answer as LMRG brings the heat to you once again, now on Tuesday nights, with our all-new China Study Group. In this long-form reading series, we'll meet monthly for in-depth discussion of a series of texts on China, its revolution, the socialist market economy, and more. As the [New Cold War](https://thetricontinental.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/20221107_MR-NCW_EN_Web.pdf) heats up, it's never been more important to learn what we can about the country which the US, UK and EU have all described - following the [American phrasebook](https://www.gmfus.org/news/china-systemic-rival-systemic-threat) \- as a "systemic rival"\.
For the first set of meetups within this series, we'll be tackling *Sorghum and Steel: The Socialist Developmental Regime and the Forging of China* by the [Chuang](https://chuangcn.org) collective. Chuang is an independent, autonomous collective of anti-authoritarian Chinese communists and labour activists whose work provides a rare opportunity for English readers to get vital detail on historical and contemporary dynamics within Chinese society from a materialist, communist, and crucially - balanced perspective. *Sorghum and Steel* will provide our Study Group with an essential foundation in Chinese history to equip us going forward.
Throughout this series, we'll give equal space to a wide variety of sources, from anti-authoritarian Chinese communists opposed to the contemporary Politburo to members of Xi Jinping's own ideological brain-trust. We'll dig deep into elements of the Chinese revolutionary experience such as the CPC's localist co-operative economics of the Civil War period, the forgotten grass roots of the Cultural Revolution, the *Boulan Fazheng* period and China's rejection of "shock therapy" as seen in the USSR, and the theory underpinning China's recent turn away from the liberal economics of the 2000s.
Take care everyone and happy reading!

Sisterhood Support Group
Join us for a safe space to connect, share, and uplift each other in our monthly Sisterhood Support Group!
SASH and Naz have relaunched our Sisterhood Support Group. This group is specifically aimed at Black women & non-binary folk. Through our organisations' active engagement with community groups, services and service users, we have encountered numerous sexual and reproductive health issues faced disproportionately by Black women & NB folk. The lack of available support, sex education disparities, cultural barriers and desire for community connections all point to the clear need for this support group.
The Sisterhood Support group was created in response to the lack of supportive, non-judgemental and intersectional safe spaces for community members to come together, improve sexual health knowledge, de-stress and address concerns in a culturally sensitive environment.
The group will utilise crafting activities to allow attendees to tap into their creativity and freely express themselves. This will be held monthly on every second Thursday at the Naz office from 6-8 pm. The sessions will have varying themes, crafts and activities as well as the opportunity to connect and uplift.
In celebration of February being LGBT History Month, next week's session theme is: *'Reclaiming & Reimagining Ourselves: A Celebration of Black Queer Identity and Gender Freedom'*
The group's aim is to create a nurturing, affirming space for Black women & NB folk —cis, trans, and queer—to explore the histories, identities, and gender expressions that shape who we are today. This session invites the group to reclaim narratives, celebrate Black queer roots, and challenge inherited ideas around gender and identity.

One way to make it more difficult for them them to impose a digital currency on us is to use cash.
Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)
With Digital Currency they can:
Have a complete government dossier on every detail of your life.
Use your purchase history to maintain a detailed social credit score for every person.
Provide tax breaks to corporations who hire people with admirable social credit scores.
Only grant government contracts to corporations with employees with admirable social credit scores.
Adjust health insurance premiums to incentivize people to develop admirable social credit scores.
Connect your social credit score with a digital ID to encourage you to look at only approved web sites when surfing the internet. Viewing conspiracy web sites could lower your Social Credit Score and make it difficult to get a job.
With their electronic chain around your neck, they can control where, when, how you travel, what food you are allowed to buy etc. They will love the power to only allow you to use your digital money only where they want you to shop and allow you to buy only what they prefer you to buy.
Require you to have to have a license to use your money. They will call it a Digital Currency License.
Require you to take any vaccine they want you to take to maintain your digital currency license.
Tax you in ways we have not even imagined.
Adjust your income tax rate based on your social credit score.
Use AI to increase your income tax rate if you eat too many hamburgers because they will tell you eating too many hamburgers will increase global warming. This is just one example of many behaviors they might not approve of.
Adjust individual prices for different individuals. They will be able to make you pay more per pound for hamburger if you purchased too much red meat during the past 30 days.
Require you to buy so many pounds of soy burger for every pound of hamburger to save the planet and increase the profits for the soy burger manufacturers.
Turn off the digital money of people they consider to be spreading misinformation.
Turn off the digital money of people they consider to be dangerous conspiracy theorists.
Turn off your money at 8 PM if they want a curfew at 8 PM
Turn off your money in another state if they do not want you to drive to another state without permission.
Turn off your money when buying guns or ammo if they do not want you to buy guns or ammo.
Turn off your digital money more than three miles away from your home if they want you to stay within three miles of your home during the next epidemic.
Etc. etc. etc.
From the standpoint of the government, one beauty of digital money is that your money is one “state emergency” away from being the government’s money. All they have to do is to take your digital money out of your Central Bank Digital Account for the “good of all”. It is not as easy for them to do this with physical cash, gold, stocks, or silver etc.
Anything they **can** do, they will do.
The essence of slavery is control. Digital Currency will enable them to make you, their slave.
(in a global digital concentration camp).

Men's Circle - Lanternis Auria
**Welcome to Men's Circle, hosted at Sticks and Stones!**
This is a group oriented towards fostering connection between men in our local community, while also accomplishing magickal working and intentional discussion around metaphysical topics. Please read the following code of conduct for our group, and message the facilitator or call the shop and ask for Merlin for any questions.
Code of Conduct
1. We are all, in good faith, men.
Whichever way that manifests, we take it on good faith that all attendees are male identifying.
2. We respect all walks of life and spiritual practice.
We honor and respect men from every walk of life and spiritual practice. Freedom ends where it infringes on the practice of another. We do not evangelize, prostelitize, or talk down on others. There is no initiation, or universal code of spiritual conduct here.
3. What happens in Men's Circle stays in Men's Circle
By attending, you accept a sacred duty to keep the trust and faith of the other attendees, do not share or discuss anything we share in circle. *(The secret answer to the question is "Salt on the Wind")*
4. Respect the circle
Once the circle is cast, we are focusing our energy on magickal topics, and making the best use of everyone's time. With great love, we may ask you to redirect or keep a line of thought shorter or more intentional.
5. Arbitration is immediate and help-oriented
If you run into a pain point or offense in our group, please speak up immediately and let your thoughts be heard. We are here to respect and grow and support each other as a community, let us help and grow together.
**The next few weeks, we will be focusing discussion and practices around the following topic:**
What does self-love and esteem mean for men?
