Chinese Tea

We start with warm up exercises. These are gentle movements and stretching from Qi Gong. We then proceed through the Tai Chi Form (short-form Yang style), usually at an easy pace, but with continous repetition. You need to wear loose clothing that allows body movement. The sessions end with some more Qi Gong meditations. Tea and Coffee is available. Please RSVP if you are going to attend, so as we have some idea about numbers.

Yijia is a singer-songwriter from China interested in exploring her cultural identity and diverse traditions through music-making. Yijia attended 'Sing My Song’ at the age of 16 and launched her music career as a singer-songwriter in China after winning the 16th CMA (Chinese Music Awards) for ‘Media’s Choice Album’ and the nomination for ‘Best New Chinese Female Artist’ for the Chinese Media Music Awards. After coming to the UK, Yijia has established a career in traditional Chinese folk singing and Guzheng playing, having performed at WOMAD festival, Victorious Festival, BBC Radio 3, Asia House’s ‘One Voice’ documentary series and Sofar Sounds London. Yijia is endorsed by Arts Council UK as a Global Talent and holds a degree in Music from the University of Oxford and SOAS (University of London). If you are coming to class for the first time we ask that you arrive 15mins early, so that you can have a quick chat with Andy. To register for the group please contact Taijiwuxigonglondon1@gmail.com. We study a method of Qi Gong called Taijiwuxigong. During the class we learn a variety of standing, moving and sitting exercises to activate and develop our vital (Yuanqi) energy, while at the same time letting go of our sick or negative factor (binqi). We are guided in this with the help of the teacher, Andy Henry, who has more than 25 years teaching experience in this field. The exercises use postural work, breathing techniques, mental focus and sometime sound and spontaneous movements.
