No Other Choice
Hi all,
Iโm setting up an interesting little Korean feature for this **Sunday, February 1st at 12pm Noon.** Please join me for the screening of **No Other Choice.**
A victim of downsizing at the paper mill where he has worked for many years, middle manager Man-Soo (Lee Byung-hun) finds himself cast adrift in an unforgiving job market; with bills piling up and his house in danger of foreclosure, he is forced into a drastic course of action when a choice role becomes available at a rival paper mill.
Aware that newly unemployed erstwhile contemporaries will also be competing for the job, Man-Soo must do whatever it takes to increase his chances of securing the role, though it soon becomes apparent that he is ill-suited to the grim task at hand. The latest from Park (The Handmaiden, Oldboy) sees the director apply his signature visual dynamism and droll humour to an adaptation of Donald Westlakeโs acclaimed 1997 Novel, The Ax.
Screening is taking place in Cinema 2. There are loads of tickets left as of Wednesday afternoon, but itโs best to be safe than sorry and book in advance,
Iโll be in the foyer from 11.40 am with my purple baseball hat.
As the film is starting early there will be plenty of time for the after film chat.
I'm in seat F8.
See you all there,
Martin

Letโs play... Epitaph / The King Is Dead
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination.
๐ญ **This week's facilitators:**
* ๐ชฆ **Emil** guiding storytellers through *Epitaph*, a game where you create the story of someone's life, starting with how they died. Together, you will create the character, the people important to them, and the events they lived through. There's no pre-defined setting, you can decide together if you would like to ground your story in modern times, use historical events as an inspiration, or explore flights of fancy in a fantasy or sci-fi world.
* โ๏ธ **Adam** leading warrior princes and princesses towards a war of succession in *The King Is Dead*. The king of Banteave has died without heir and civil war is certain. To see your house exalted, youโll have to fight and scheme, ally with your rivals and betray your friends. You were born for this.

The stars are gone. The planets have disappeared. Only those on space stations or starships were left to give the end a name. The Quiet Rapture. The universe dims. Humanity decays. Barren moons are all that remain. The last remnants search for any trace of natural resources among them. With only ghost light of long-vanished stars to guide them. But one moon stands apart from the rest. And in the darkness of that moon. An ocean of blood.

Contra dance with Big Scioty on Feb. 7 - First Congregational Church
**Caller: Dan Kappus**
**Band: Trillium**
**Big Scioty Contra Dance**
**temporarily returning to our long ago location for Jan-March - First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus 43215**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like youโve seen in period films such as โPride and Prejudiceโ, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. Thatโs English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like โswing your partnerโ and โdo-si-do,โ like youโve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alรก โRiverdance.โ Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THATโs Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/)
Please bring your own refillable water bottle. Snacks to share are always welcome!
